Like... You?

I'm not shopping in this segment (or, at the moment any segment) . The days in which I was prepared to spend a large amount of money on an automobile ended a good decade ago.

But were I to be looking for something in the upper executive/luxury 4 door sedoupe segment, I would take a very close look at a pre-owned C218 CLS. A very, very good automobile despite its' somewhat polarizng aesthetic. German vehicle inspection agencies such as TÜV or DEKRA assess the C218 as being one of the most dependable, durable automobiles...period.

It does look "different", but exterior is a bit messy? Very angular headlights, which meets with a much less angular (rounded edges) of the inverted grille. Then bang, we get the "traditional" round/smooth roof line and roundy lines everywhere else except and then the strangely shaped tail lights. Maybe a deliberate new design theme...

Much improved. It's gorgeous from some angle, and merely good looking from others. They walked a fine line with that long rear overhang. I can't wait to see it and drive it. Now that L.A. is over (press wise) lets get on with the AMG GT4, the AMG 53 models and the new G.

Seductive little beauty... the Beyoncé of cars
The non AMG looks very good as well. You don't need to take a AMG, like is the case with the FL W222 imo.

Oh, SHITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that real???

I'm glad that they didn't stick the pana grille on this one. Great decision.

^ Nice photo comparison - thank you - but unfortunately the matt 'n black scheme of the C257 is its least flattering. This design demands glossy, deep-colored paintwork and bright, shiney wheels. IMO, of course.

NO CONTEST the new CLS dumps on the old one, which I never liked from day one. Mess lines and creases that go no where, while the new one harks back to the original.

Really!!?
That looks fantastic, check those cool new multi LED lights!

I really think the new CLS looks absolutely gorgeous in these pics and this gloss red

The side profile looks great with short front overhang

And now I am actually warning up to the rear it looks smart and sharp

And that new nose it reminds me of a great white shark wanting to chase some prey

Never thought I'd say this but I'm starting to appreciate the outgoing CLS' rear more than ever. The taillights are the most unique feature of that car.

It's going to take some time for me to get used to the new rear.

I guess the CLS-class will never get a pano roof...

I think headroom would be too compromised.

I guess the pana grille is now reserved for the full "63" models.

Based solely on exterior design, I do prefer the new C257 over the immensely capable yet aesthetically incongruent C218.

Oh yes...in motion (driving footage vids), the new C257 CLS looks quite acceptable.
