Aww, are you mad now? No one bought your GM BS so now you're lashing out? You're in violation of the rules here. Good luck with that.

I certanly don't get what's the story with this John Galt.

Correct me if I am wrong but, you basically dislike German cars, it this correct?

Weren't you the same John Galt who was banned from Bimmerpost when the G11 7er was launched because you kept trolling the threads about the car?

No, I like the german cars. I just don't like the @ickeads like merc1.
No, I don't even know that site.
I was not trolling in the X7 thread, btw. I was talking about the future Cadillac products, based on the legit info I have. I do understand that the current Cadillacs are bad, and I was not talking about them. I was not even planning to argue with anybody. Just wanted to share some info. The problem is that rat can't even argue as an adult man. He saw my posts and
began to act like a little dumb kid.
Honestly, I've seen kids who behave themselfes like men more ,than this *itch.

I can't help it if you're too dense to realize that a BMW X7 thread is NOT the place for your ramblings about GM junk. NO ONE CARES!!! What part of that don't you get? You shared your info and I said I'd believe when I see it and then you went on to try to make someone believe it. You can't. Then of course because you can't get your way you start name calling, it's the typical behavior of a GM apologist and you're still at it. Rat? Dumb kid? Bitch? Nice. Really helps advance your (lame arse) case. It's hilarious. All of the vitriol because I don't believe that one of the world's sorriest companies is going to do something different when they've been promising to do so for the last 30 years!!!! You and your message are a complete and utter failure here.

^ Good question. One of them appears to have a new wood trim in the center console. Could that be the CLS, perhaps? :)

THE NEW CLS - SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE BODY

Mercedes-Benz is using a completely new body structure for the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupé. The material mix of the aluminum hybrid construction helps to achieve not only a lower weight but also the highest structural rigidity as well as improved crash safety with the highest quality.

In order to compensate for an extra weight of the body, one relies on a reduced number of components and larger-scale aluminum use, such as on the fender, trunk lid and the hood. By a mechanical joining method for the hybrid construction of the body improves in parallel the connection quality of the new material pairings. The front module concept has been further optimized in terms of rigidity.

Highly stable passenger compartment

For the best possible crash performance of the CLS Coupé, the company relies on the use of pre-formed, ultra-high-strength steels as well as materials and wall thicknesses that are suitable for heavy-duty structural areas. Deformable load path structures contribute in parallel to the energy absorption in the front and rear deformation zones. As the core of the body safety concept, emphasis was placed on a highly stable passenger cell.

Long-term corrosion protection

The body itself is fully galvanized and therefore has more than sufficient long-term corrosion protection. Cavity preservation protects heavily loaded structural areas and doors. Corrosion-critical areas additionally receive a cataphoretic dip coating and seam sealing circumferences. In addition, an increased overall paint layer density and a coating ensure a highly scratch-resistant clearcoat system and, due to a complex surface treatment, are long-term resistant to snow, salt, sand and water. Incidentally, the complete underbody paneling consists of pentalaminate.

I wonder why the door skins aren't made from aluminium.

Usually manufacturers don't mention much about the paint used on the cars but it is good to know Mercedes is ensuring the quality of the paint is up to standard. Having said that though, when was this type of paint and clear coat introduced and is it applied on all the cars or just on the CLS? Also is it applied to non metallic and metallic paint?

One thing I have noticed recently is that the clear coat on the new Mercedes lacks the deep smooth glossy finish as they use to appear on cars with the factory ceramic clear coat.

May have been required to silence the frameless doors, while enhancing the rigidity? :)

In the interests of weight saving, the outer body is made predominately from aluminium, including the bonnet, fenders and boot lid. As with the E-class, though, the four doors are all fashioned from steel.

Mercedes-Benz claims the frameless design of the doors, a design element brought over from the previous two generations of the CLS, brings advantages in refinement, with the rubber sealing around the top of the windows said to offer more aerodynamic properties than that of framed doors.

“They’re quieter at speed than the doors we use on the E-class,” says Kelz, adding. “The difference is not great, but our tests have shown there is less buffeting with the frameless design, especially at highway speeds.

Thanks Wolfgang, you are awesome as always. Do you have more information about the paint system, is it a new type of paint and process starting from the new CLS or has it been used by MB for a few years now?

^ Thanks, Monster. Daimler developed two different scratch resistant clears with their suppliers a few years ago. Suspect they may use an updated version of this one on the new CLS. :)

Microscratches, from using a car wash, for example, could soon be a thing of the past, thanks to BASF’s new clearcoat iGloss®. Daimler is the first car manufacturer to introduce this scratch-resistant paint, which is used to coat three Mercedes Benz models. The clearcoat provides a glossy finish, as well as protection from UV light and environmental erosion. On top of all these features, BASF’s innovative Gloss® technology, which can be applied in the same way as a common clearcoat, also provides extremely high scratch resistance. This keeps your car looking new for much longer.
