Mercedes-Benz C-Class gains C160 entry-level version with 129 HP
Available only with six-speed manual gearbox
Mercedes-Benz has announced a new entry-level version for the C-Class (W205) which will be available on order starting Tuesday.

It will get a four-cylinder, 1.6-liter developing 129 HP (95 kW) which makes it 27 HP (20 kW) less powerful than the previous base gasoline model, the C180. Mercedes-Benz plans on selling this engine exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox as the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission available on upper-spec variants will not be offered in this case.

The C160 will be available for the sedan at a starting price of €31,683 while the wagon (T-Model) will set you back at least €33,349. Deliveries of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C160 Sedan and Estate are scheduled to begin sometime in June.

Later this year, the C-Class range will grow with a coupe version while in 2016 a convertible will also join the family. One other possible body style could be a four-door coupe to go head to head with BMW's 4-Series Gran Coupe.

Whoever is responsible for the current generation of Mercedes 4-cylinder petrol engines must be hauled before the firing squad along with the design team that came up with the pre-facelift E Class (both exterior and interior).

Finally, a proper alternative to the 316i and the basic A4.

StanNH traded his troublesome iridium silver C300 for a palladium silver C300 Sport. Let's hope he has better luck with his second new W205.

Strange how the C300 is available in America before the rest of the world gets it?

I don't have the new C300 yet. It was ordered in February and is now on the dealer's lot. If everything works out, I should have the car in a few days and will post updates when I have it.
