Probably. It has adjustable dampers.

MB has also made a specific point of mentioning the reconciliation of comfort and sport in the press release, after receiving much negative press of the pre-facelifts ride quality.

The product manager claims its almost a new A45? :)

The updated Mercedes-AMG A45 hot hatch has seen some fairly significant changes as part of its mid-life update – so many that Matthias Schmidt, Mercedes-AMG product manager of compact cars, said “we made so many changes on the car, it’s almost a new A45”.

Further, there will be a new AMG Dynamic Plus package, which includes a front differential lock that is “something totally new to the compact segment in our compact cars” according to AMG. That’s undoubtedly where some of the claimed dynamic performance gains will come from.

Since all of its 381 horsepower debuted here at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, I’ve been completely speechless. All I can tell you is that she pops and bangs like there’s no tomorrow. What a wild thing!

MB Passion took another sneak peak at the new compact Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC from Affalterbach. The model can be further upgraded with the AMG Performance Studio.

The AMG Performance Studio offers a range of visually and technically optional equipment to further increase the dynamism of the Mercedes-AMG A45 and to satisfy the desire for more individuality. The new AMG Dynamic Plus Package can increase the performance and driving pleasure further and packages - such as the AMG Aerodynamics package and AMG Night package or the AMG Carbon Package Exterior - are giving an even more striking appearance.

The AMG Dynamic Plus Package offers maximum lateral acceleration when accelerating out of corners with additional traction provided by the AMG Front-Axle Differential Lock, AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension, 2 steering characteristics, driving program "RACE" and AMG performance steering wheel with AMG E-SELECT selector lever, and master key embossed with the AMG emblem.

The AMG Aerodynamics package shown here in the pictures consists of a larger front splitter, additional flics on the front apron, and the AMG rear wing and spoiler lips on the optical air outlets of the rear apron.

Mercedes-Benz CLA45 and GLA45 AMG to get upgraded engine
More power and performance due for CLA45 and GLA45, in line with revised A-Class range-topper

The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and the GLA45 AMG will both get the same upgraded engine as the recently facelifted A45 AMG, it has been confirmed.

AMG boss Tobias Moers told Autocar that the A-Class-based coupe and small SUV would not have to wait for their respective facelifts for the upgrade.

Both cars will also get the same technical upgrades as the A-Class at the same time.

The revised A45 gets a 21bhp boost of power for 2015, taking its total output up to 376bhp from 355bhp. It also gets an increase in torque of 18lb ft, so it now has 350lb ft at 2250rpm.

This boost in power has translated to a 0.4sec improvement in 0-62mph acceleration, so the dash now takes just 4.2sec. A similar improvement on the CLA45 AMG would translate to a 0-62mph time of 4.2sec, while the GLA45 AMG would take 4.4sec.

The other technical changes on the A45 that would be carried over include a revised seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with shorter ratios for quicker response times, and a new mechanical locking front differential to improve handling. The fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures remain unchanged on the A45 and are expected to do the same on the extreme versions of the CLA and GLA.

However, Moers confirmed that as the changes would not come in at the same time as a facelift, the visual updates of the A-Class would not apply to the CLA or GLA.

He would not put a precise time on when the updates would arrive but said they would be “before long”.

A different AWD system please MB :)

just out of curiosity ... can't germans develop a V4 for more modular use on transverse/longitudinal purposes by having 2 different crankcases ? Is it impossible ?

V4s are not popular for some reason. The Bosch handbook doesn't even list it. :)

That's all it really needs. They should have a pow wow with the guys who created the GTR.:sneaky:

Suspect AMG may have had a GTR pow wow (was posted in the AMG GT thread I believe). The AMG Performance Studio offers optional mechanical front lockers for the compacts now. :)

Thank you Sayyaaf, good find. Found a vid and apparently the unusual V4 was found to be optimal as LeMans racer, perhaps due to its short length? :)
