A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
Has anyone else lost the ability to read SMS on the Comand screen ? SMS is greyed out on the Telephone option. Until a few months ago I was able to select SMS from my phone and read them on the Coman screen. NOW ... Nothing. I have an MY13 A250.

Reply to self and for anyone else who's interested.

On iPhone ... Go to Settings/Bluetooth ... touch the Info symbol for your bluetooth connection to the car .... slide the Show Notifications slider to on (green). Problem solved.

Phone is a work phone with some work security policy restrictions that were recently updated that probably re-set the Show Notifications indicator. Dumb!

Have anyone else experienced a broken wind deflector? I took my MY13 A250 in for it's final service under warranty (just under 3 year ~30k km) yesterday. Long story short*: I've been informed that the wind deflector needs to be replaced. I'm just wondering if this is a common issue and if this means that I'll have to fork out for a new one in a couple of years' time again :eek:o_O If this is the case I may have to considering replacing it sooner than I would have. BTW I LOVE this car don't get me wrong, it will just be a shame...

*Back story: A while back when I closed the sunroof I heard a loud clack sound while it closed ( at the time I thought it was a stone that hit the roof flicked up from a car in front). Then recently I used the sunroof after a long time not using it (rainy season) and it wouldn't close - it eventually did after a few tries.

The part might have not be aligned correctly from the start? Make sure they do it right this time, at least it is covered by warranty.

Hi all,

My lease is up in about 6 months. Im in a quandary, i dont know whether to get another A class, or trade up to something like the GLC.. The only thing that concerns me about the GLC is whether it will be a slouch with the 4cyl 155Kw engine...

Anyone else considering trading up, or staying with the A class?

The GLC will be slower no doubt, even with the 9 speed gearbox it won't be able to help disguise the extra 400kg.
Perhaps you can get a CLA 45 AMG or a C coupe if you want something sporty and quick.

I think im gonna have to drive one to be able to make up my mind. It will give me and idea on how much that extra 400kg will impact performance.. First world problems, i know!

If budget permits the GLC43 is also due year end at $110k.
I was looking at that too, but i had no idea what the price was going to be in Australia.. The GLC43 would tick all boxes for me, but i think it probably is going to be a tad out of my reach.. I'd have to see what deal the lease company could do..

Do you know when they start arriving? December? or before?

Do you need the extra space? How about a C-class estate? I am pretty happy with mine so far, it is fast enough, handles very well, and without the compromise suffered by high riding SUVs.

I'll have to check that one out.. Which variant do you have, Monster? Petrol or Diesel?

Do you find it has enough poke? how does it compare to the A250, as far as power?
I have driven the A250 but that was a few years ago. The C 250 has enough power for daily driving and the occasional full throttle application, I can get up to 100km/h without really trying, the general refinement is excellent so for me I am regularly driving 20km/h over the speed limit without realizing it. The A 250 felt a little faster perhaps but the initial engine response was blunted by the hesitant gearbox response. Also the exhaust in the A 250 is noticeably louder and more sporty sounding. For daily driving the difference in performance is insignificant, the difference might be greater if you push it a bit harder.

They arrive in November.

Thanks for the feedback.. It looks like i have a couple more to test drive now.. :D

Had my fully loaded A250 for almost 3 years. Loved every second with it. Now it's time to say goodbye, pick up my new car next week.
Is it hard to sale A250 privately?

It shouldn't be since it is still a relatively popular car, however the difficult part is to find legitimate buyers, not time wasters, joy riders or thieves.
