Hi Guys

how often do you get your wheels rotated? I have gotten up to 8000kms and have noticed some wheelspin and probably going to get it done at Mathews in Campsie, Sydney

do you also recommend having them balanced as well?

I understand that MB does it as part of Service A but i think waiting that long (April) will be detrimental

I just get the wheels rotated at every service, how is the tyre wear looking? Is Mathews any good? I get my wheels balanced when I get a set of new tyres, which is once every 25 k km.

Rotate your wheels at each service. Check your tread wear indicators on the tyres. That will tell you when to replace them. Replace all 4 tyres at the same time.

I've just had my so called free scheduled service: 2 years with 27K on the clock. What's not free: standard wheel alignment and air-conditioning sanitisation for a total of around $400. But what was the real shock: $1,200 to replace the front brake pads and discs. I cannot believe that pad and disc like is only 27K. Has anybody else had to have these replaced and if yes, how many km to you get out of them?

Just had mine replaced at 39K. $1400. I knew the pads were a bit low but didn't expect to get hit for discs too. Mine was for front and back. Tyres are next - in a month or so... approx 41K by then. Any recommendations on replacement tyres anyone?

I find it a bit odd with needing replacement pads as well as discs so early. Both of my Golf GTI's were sold with over 60,000 kms. I didn't need new discs or even pads in that time. Maybe VW discs and pads aren't as soft as Mercs or I just don't drive hard enough

Had replaced all 4 Conti tyres to another brand as the 5P worn out so quickly! (worn out front pair before 10K).

Just realised that the new tyres are not run-flats. Last time I had a quick look, we get an electronic pump in the boot. Do we get some glue to seal up the puncture or do we just get a pump?

Guess pump doesn't help if the tyre is not run-flat?

I am new to the forum but have read all that is written on the A class on these pages. I am looking at purchasing the new A Class A250 4matic and I know it is a very new model, has any one test driven one yet? I live in Perth and the dealer near me has one on display only. They have arrived but dealers are rather stingy with their test vehicles. If you have test driven one, what are your thoughts when compared to the 2015 model FWD only? Or when compared to an Audi A3 Quattro?

I used to own the Front wheel drive A250. Now waiting for my new 4Matic A250 to arrive in April but will get a test drive of the dealer's demo in the next week or so. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks Lain. Just got back from the dealer near my work place. Left my contact details and will call me one becomes available to test drive. I did spend about half and hour feeling and looking at the car for a good half an hour. Well build in and out and feels very solid. The one I sat in had all the options and had a $70k RRP. And the green actually looks good in person.

Hope to hear from you soon and especially from someone who currently own a pre-facelift model to see if there is any real driving and comfort difference between the two. I must say that it is one of the best looking cars that does not scream 'boy racer'.

Don't do green @Thimmy. You'll kick yourself at resale time.

The green VW Sciroccos were on average $3k-$5k cheaper than the other colours.

Thanks Mr. Mercedes. My other half will not be happy and she has better colour and fashion sense than me. It will look dated in three years time just like the lime green on a Ford Fiesta.

Yep that green looks pretty cool now but will date horribly. Car companies often have A "hero colour" when they launch a new model. Remember that gold / orange coloured MX-5? Looks dreadful now. Would be a problem with resale at trade in and also even trying to sell it privately because no one will want it.

Does anyone have a view on whether $220 for a 4 wheel alignment from 3 Point Mtrs in Melbourne on my A250 is 'fair price'.

Just had a new set of Pirelli P1s fitted and the car is pulling left - always tracked perfectly straight on the old '40k and down to 3mm' Contis.

Haven't had to pay for a wheel alignment on my last 2 cars (leased) so a bit out of touch on what's a reasonable price - I see 'standard wheel alignments' advertised at KTAS, Bob Jane, Beurepaires etc for $50-$60. Thinking of asking the folk at Donnellans to do the job rather than 3 Point Motors.

The Conti tyres indicate at 3mm (ie. via the hard plastic Summer Tread Wear Indicator inserts in the read) that it is time to replace .... even though the rubber bars molded into the tyre is set at 2mm and other tyre brands have their indicators at 2mm (or even 1.5mm) before 'time to replace'.

That has to be the most expensive alignment I have ever heard, Bridge stone tyre center charge $45 to align 4 wheels, more expensive and "professional" places charge up to $80.

BY the way .. I did not pay 3 Point for a wheel alignment. I told the Assistant Service manager that he had to be joking, turned my back and walked out .... never to return for anything to be done on my car ever! I'm searching elsewhere for a reasonable price.
