Hi everyone,

Could you please tell me how long it took for you to get your a classes from the port?
Mine arrives in port on a saturday and the dealer said it will take 2 weeks (Melbourne, Australia).

How long does it usually take to get from the port to the dealer and then to myself?

Anyone from Melbourne able to share how long it took them?

Tom
I was told the same thing by my dealer here in Perth. Mine is also due to arrive in port ( Fremantle ) this weekend, and the dealer expected the car to be ready for pickup on the 30th March.. I think 2 weeks would be a worst case scenario, im hoping.

Mine took three working days. Arrived on the 20th of December, was ready for pickup on the 27th of December I got the car on the 31st of December as was on holidays.

But they were desperate to make H1 targets and I guess they really wanted to give me a December complianced finnish car after a 7 month wait on the last day of 2013.

Hmm that probably could be interpreted as negative.

8 days for me. My was from Brighton Benz. Arrived on Saturday. And picked up Monday.
Anyone has any info on tyre pressure. Should I follow the sticker or listen to the benz technician

The sticker on the car which was created by Mercedes engineers. Well technically their graphic artists but the information they took was based off information from the engineers lol.

Until they update that sticker I would be sticking to 38 psi in the front. 43 psi seems excessive.

That is my logic.

Thanks gun. Would you do 31 at the back too? Not sure why there is that much different between front and rear.

31 at the back sounds quite low?
On my GTI the sticker says from 240kpa / back 240kpa (260/300 under full load).
Google says 240 kpa is about 34.8 PSI so 31 sounds a bit low?

2-3 month before my arrives. By the way, I am guessing there are quite a few proud a250 owners coming from a Golf Gti. In your opinion, how does the two car compare?

I haven't seen the MY 2015 build changes (effective June 2014 production) but I reckon CarPlay could be a contender.

If there is a retrofit available at a reasonable price (and I mean sub $500) I would consider getting it, otherwise wait till I turn the car over in 2016.

Re the discussion on COMAND. I seriously would not be without it. The Digital radio alone is awesome value. In fact I can say with confidence that I would never buy another car without one. Happy with the HK sound system. Never as good as a custom job but I find it more than respectable. For me COMAND was money well spent. I've been down this path before and concluded that one of the joys of a nice car is having all the bells and whistles to play with. When I haven't had them I have always felt I compromised.
Will wait and see functionality if retrofit is available later, and yes as you say if price is reasonable.

As far as Comand goes on the whole including upgraded speakers etc I would not do away with it either.

My dealer's (same as gun16) projected delivery date is 5 days after the ship arrives in port

when is your new baby due to be delivered into your waiting arms Mr Mercedes?

I have no idea. It's anyone's guess really. I had a build week 10 which disappeared from the system and now I don't even have another build week. On top of that other guys already have build weeks 15-20. So who knows? Maybe sometime between August and October. But if I don't have a build by the end of the month I may consider cancelling.

^ no news is worse than bad news IMO.

When you are getting dicked around it brings everything into question...the brand, the dealer, implications for the ownership experience etc etc

I'd rather be told the truth if there are delays and make an assessment based on the facts. Otherwise, (speaking for myself) i tend to draw negative rather than positive conclusions.

Mine just unloaded off the ship today, so it wont be long now. Anyone in Melbourne with cars on the Boheme? Its headed your way..

I agree. I'd rather just be told a date, even if it's week 24, rather than being left hanging.

The dealership and my salesman in particular have been outstanding. It's Audi Australia and Germany that need to get their sh** together. The Audi Australia customer service line at the headquarters is also absolutely useless.

Did you check out a 235i on the weekend?

Hey mate, I checked out the M235i the previous weekend. What an absolutely beautiful engine and transmission combination. Also the styling was a big plus. It's a HOT little package that's for sure. The car really is fantastic and I would be looking at it in a heartbeat were in not for the pricing and lack of a few key features that I want in the car, blind spot assistance and radar cruise, both of which are not even options.

For my budget and wants, the S3 sedan is still a ripper of a package.

I just bought a used A1 today for a bit of a bargain, to replace my wifes Civic. So that should keep me entertained on weekends while I wait for the S3. :)
