I'm thinking might get my wife a GLA in a few yearsI'm kind of glad I got out of my GTI now. Not just because I love my A250 but with more VW recalls happening. This has only been forced on them due to constant complaints. My car was a manual so no DSG concerns. VW's fix for the problematic 7 speed DSG's is to change to non synthetic oil to stop them overheating! I think they might be missing the point that it sounds like a design fault but they won't admit it.
I had been noticing that my GTI certainly sounded rattly at start up and continued for about 10 min (over the last 12 months). Only done 40,000kms. Service blokes said it was normal but now I'm reading that they have a dodgy timing belt tensioner that eventually fails and lunches the engine. People have spent months fighting VW to replace their engines. My wife wants a Tiguan but they seem to have a lot of trouble (reading the forums) as well but are a very nice car to drive. I've certainly heard of friends with horror stories trying to deal with the service departments. How much is the GLA going to cost? It probably looks too close to my A Class though!![]()
I would reckon this would be awesome!I did the drive morning yesterday out at Sandown Racetrack and had a ball. The highlight of course was the couple of hot laps in the all chrome C63, but the rest of the day was heaps of fun. Drove lots and lots of different cars, including the prime mover! The morning flew. It was very professionally run, and all of the instructors were great. We were split up into groups of 3, assigned an instructor and a car and then we rotated around the various activities. I did a fair bit of my driving in a CLS which was lovely! If you get the chance to do this, do it! It is a morning or afternoon well spent.
My car is in for repair to bumper now. Should be back Friday, I miss it when it's away as it is an awesome car to drive. My rental a Tiida, air conditioner didn't keep up yesterday would hate to drive it in summer.
I guess myself in a round-about sort of way as I opted for a rental car in the insurance package extra $50, but now it's worth it. If I didn't include that then I would have to sort it out myself. I'm guessing the insurance just bill the other insurance company so for a not at fault accident we should all get a rental car, but I don't think you do unless you pay the extra on your premi. I only get up to 14 days car hire after that I'm on my own. I think AAMI told me the cover would last until I had my car back including a write off while waiting for a replacement car even if it took 6 months for the car to come. Although I can't remember now if that was salesman speak or the PDS confirmed it.Who is paying for the rental? I hope it isn't you.
Well it could be worse, but definitely wouldn't buy one of these for my kids. But yes looking forward to getting my baby backThat's a stylin' vehicle that Tiida! Hope you get your 250 back ASAP! At least you'll appreciate it when you get it back.![]()
Nice hey, that handles surprisingly well considering the conditions. But if it added too much to the price for 4matic you would just grab an A45. Personally I think around $5k would be about right as if it was $10k extra most of us would just try and squeeze another 10 and get a 45Sweet little machine A250 4Matic

Yeah got it back and it looks beautiful. Quite happy!Ahhh I misunderstood I thought it may have been another defect.
Sounds like the $50.00 was definitely well spent!
I hope you get it back and to a decent standard ASAP![]()
If this is something they fear then you would think that they would make provisions to reduce that lead time as much as possible. You would think that they could introduce it into some markets a little slower so that they can meet the demands. I am hoping to get a GLA for my wife, but i don't want to have worse wait times than I had for my A250. If that is the case then I may either choose an Audi or a BMW.Did everyone see this yesterday?:

But he fears the situation won’t get any better soon with the next small-car variant, the GLA SUV, expected to be even more popular for the brand when it goes on sale around April next year.
“GLA may be even worse for us,” conceded van Sanden.
