A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
guys talking to a friend of mine getting an a45 he tells me a work colleague who is interested in an a250 has been quoted a delivery date of no earlier than wait for it ......march ! apparently world wide demand and all that.

guys I would get a cast iron delivery date locked in if can. only way can guarantee a car I reckon. otherwise its quite likely delivery dates will keep getting pushed out :)

awesome stuff mercer ! that is great feed back on what the car is like on long trips :) great to hear on fuel economy and getting up 230 km/h sounds like got a chance to give it a good push as well :D
230 km/h,,,,, it was not the top speed, a short time i was on 243, German autobahn, not sure was the rpm.
on crusing 120km/h around 2000 rpm, low rpm like an diesel :-)

Recall appears to affect cars built between June and December 2012 so hopefully it won't impact Australian cars.

Got my AMG valve caps and stems today, but no car to try them on

Hi guys

I have done a tint on my car
Also I have got on my first tank 820 km for 48 L of Diesel I did drive the car very slowly.

Hey guys,

Word of caution to those who have asked their dealers to switch from an MY13 to an MY14 - make sure they have really done so!! I first ordered my (MY13) A250 in early March with AMG Exclusive + COMAND. I then read these (truly awesome!) forums which detailed the COMAND updates for the MY14 models. Therefore, I asked my dealer to update my car to an MY14 and got a 'sure - no problem'. Not long after I received a letter in the mail saying I had a car with a build date of May and delivery in July. Since I knew the MY14's were only being built from June, I asked the dealer to confirm it was definitely an MY14 - he said 'yes' and I assumed the May build date was just a typo

Lo and behold nearly 3 months later, I call them today to find out a build date only to be told I still have an MY13 requested due to be delivered in July! After a somewhat angry conversation with the head of sales, they claim to have rectified the mistake and I've now been told I have an MY14 with a June build date and delivery in the last week of August. To make matters worse, the dealership seemed to have no idea about the MY14 updates until I told them what was being changed!!

Must say, am a little disappointed so far with the whole process. Hopefully it's all smooth sailing from here :)

I feel for you. These guys are selling 50K+ cars, you'd think they would have really top notch customer service. I get better service at my Nespresso store.

re: MY13/14, Do you guys know how long it actually takes to produce a car? And how long the actual boat ride from the factory to Australia?

It's my understanding that the production time is 4 days per vehicle.

I can't recall the actual shipping time, but my car is scheduled for production on 18th June and for delivery 16th August. Within that time is manufacturing, waiting for the ship, transit on ship and then clearing the dock and pre-delivery by the Dealer. Around 3 months total.

Hope this helps

I went in to my dealer and he also didn't know, I had a list of the changes and so he started looking through his emails. He obviously doesn't know about email filters so it was a bit list and then he found an email from MB detailing the changes that would occur to cars manufactured from June 2013 onwards. Mine is supposed to be manufactured in June towards the end for an August delivery. I haven't heard any different yet, and figure I will wait a week or so as they changed what I was getting built on the slot that they had alloted for me. But I've got an MY13-804 (Maybe MY14-804, the 804 is the part I can remember) hopefully on the way A250 with the LOT!

My dealer told me that the actual manufacturing of the car is 1 day (24hr period). But that things are already there waiting for it like COMAND lights, etc so it would be hard to calculate the exact time it takes to manufacture. As far as I'm aware the slowest part is the painting as it needs to dry between coats.

The dealer can give you the VIN number or the vessel name and you can trace your car once it is on the ship. I will definitely be doing that with mine, as I'm totally hanging out for it. Never waited for something so long in my life that I can remember. I'll probably die of terminal orgasm when it arrives!

Hi gumpy,

which dealer did you go with?
Im in sydney too and put my order in for the A250 with exclusive and command early march. Update i got last week was delivery around 19th August.

Best of luck!

MB sydney, the official one

how about you?

I'd phone around and ask other dealers when they could confirm delivery for. I have been told that there are now supply issues with 250 engines given that it is being used widely throughout the MB range and given the popularity of the A250 globally. In fact the CLA is likely to launch here in August without the CLA250 which will only turn up sometime in the first quarter of next year.

but my car only has the 1.6l...

i'm really getting sick of these guys

I can imagine mate. Years ago we ordered a 2nd Generation CLK240 when it was released. We waited almost 10 months for our car because I believe they prioritized CLK320 and CLK500 deliveries. They would of course never admit to this, but it was the only explanation. With a car as popular as the A-class you're bound to get messed around a bit with MB Australia pushing for the variants they make the most profit on and MB Germany balancing their profits margins with supply issues of components. Dealers would also play a part. That's my understanding of the issue.

Chatswood.

My sales guy confirmed with me that my build date is confirmed to be June with delivery around Aug 19 - so im hoping this sticks.

I went to MB sydney but passed on them straight away as they didnt take me seriously... big mistake on their behalf.

Thanks for that.
Personally I'm a bit skeptical about my order being MY14, ordered early April. Asked them to please contact me as soon as they had a firm date of delivery. Never happened, had to chase them about changing some options (start of this month)- told that its too late as the car is already being built (bs) if it was It would be on the ship by now. Ended up quoted as first week of August for delivery. So either the car gets here early and being MY13, or it hasn't been built and the dealer just can't be bothered changing options for me.

Granted the details for the MY14 states that orders placed after April 9th would indeed be MY14. :cyclops:

The dealer gets 'frozen' out of making changes about a month before the car is built. If your car is supposed to arrive in August, I would suspect it's being built in June.
