A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
That's awesome news Will!

Do you mind if I ask where you're located? (will give me an insight on how long I will be waiting for mine)

Cheers!

I'm in Perth which hopefully means a few days less waiting than most down under.

Hi All,
I've been lurking and following this thread for a while now (and the A Class thread over at Whirlpool, in fact that is how I ended up here). Anyway, I also have an A250 on order and I'm beginning to find the wait excruciating! :p So I'm just going to post here a bit...lol

I received a letter from my dealer (Perth) at the beginning of May to give me the vehicle "commission number" which stated that the vehicle is to be built in June and is scheduled to arrive in Australia in September. I had one other follow up call by the sales person at the beginning of June to basically tell me nothing in particular except that the delivery for orders are blowing out. I asked her if I could change to the black seatbelts if it is still possible (knowing the build is imminent). As I suspected she had no idea about it, so I said she should go through her emails since it's now an interchange option on the builds from June. She then asked if I would still like to do it if it means a further delay and I said no way, no delays! I think I may be paranoid, but I got the feeling they were trying to get go for a later delivery. o_O So next week I will follow up and demand the VIN number... (Contract stated Sept/Oct delivery - if it goes beyond October I'm jumping off a cliff!! JK)

Anyway I've been second guessing myself on the red belts: one day I want them, the next I think the black is more sensible - either way I don't really mind at this point!

TL;DR I'm just posting to make the wait go faster!

I'm really looking forward to driving it!!

Cheers
W

welcome will, re the red belts if going with the stock red black, artico / dinamica interior be happy in knowing it goes really well with the red seat belts ! a real talking point and pics up well with the red highlights around the car. wife loves the red belts . looks the kind of little things like that, that set this car apart and make it what it is. so go for it. you are going to be thrilled to bits when get it :)

Each to their own but I actually find this end of the discussion helpful.

For example the stainless steel door pins that I purchased off eBay for $50 are magnificent in build and are comparable to the $85 per pin price MB ask for them to replace the crappy plastic pins that come with their car.

I have owned a number of luxury vehicles in my life (or had them in my family), have participated in many show and shine days and formal club judged concours events. It may be surprising to know that some of the smallest items like chrome trims, valve caps, etc can all add up to create a very individual and desirable vehicle.

Let's maybe leave it to the Moderators to decide what should and shouldn't be discussed within this thread (eg the discussions we had about photography) and so direct a special thread for specific discussion as warranted.

Just my thoughts.

hi frostee, sorry did I miss where you got the door pins from for $50 ? were these the amg stamped ones ?

guys in the dealer the other day, I saw a gull wing there. wow what a machine...and then saw the price half a mill wow ! but looking inside I can see how its dna is in the a250 interior. now driving my a250 I can just imagine being behind the wheel of a gull wing :D

I took a bit of a leap of faith. Seller said will fit most models and it wasn't on exclusion list so went for it. Happy to let you know when I get my car whether they fit
I think they will fit, seller said if the pins unscrew they will fit on another forum they said they just need to be unscrewed so I bought them Aussie dollar is week so were about $60, but much cheaper than Brabus ones which were $80 postage I think. I should consult my brother in-law who is in pimping scene in Taiwan to see if they have any parts yet.

When you think it through MB sells AMG pins at $80 or so a shot and it's one size fits all (with a couple of exceptions I think). Chances are an "entry" level product such as the "A" will use common components where they can be used.

Can't wait to get the car and reckon I'll try and screw the pin soon after getting it. Go figure LOL :ROFLMAO:

Re your Bro in Taiwan, go for it. Would love to hear what he can lay his hands on!

thanks frostee, yes do let us know how you find them and how they go in changing over from the plastic ones to these that do look pretty swish :)

Not really fair putting the little GTI up against the 135 and the a45. Better to wait for the new 2014 R. While the GTI was a non-contestant in that silly shootout, it highlighted how far BMW have fallen behind. Time to stop sitting back and start delivering something for the money BMW!

A few more thoughts on my a250 after 2000k's. Engine still feels tight, eventhough it has lots of rattles, quite noisy at idle (hoping everyone elses is the same?). Not really expecting it to loosen up too quickly though, as with normal driving, it never gets over 2000rpm! so it should last about 500000k's! Nothing like plodding along at 80k/h doing 1100rpm! Fortunately, the gearbox is a treat, soo much better than the dsg, and responds pretty quickly when asked in these conditions. But I do find myself using flappys a lot more around town.

Still haven't given it full thottle and still haven't really pushed it, but what I have done is impressing me more than I expected. I know I've said it before, but it still impresses me how quickly it can change direction. You can carry so much more corner speed that you really don't need to be hard on and off the gas, your just on it the whole time! If you love driving, you'll love this. I make no apologies to my gti and 125 friends, but whoever reckons either one of them are better drivers cars, they are kidding themselves -full stop, end of story, no further correspondence entered into.

Drove out to the Superbikes at Qld Raceway the other weekend, and had three mates with me. I was surprised at how little difference this made to the ride - even with the extra 270 odd kg's!

Only issues I'm having is my collision warning has gone off a few times for no apparent reason. I'm getting the flashing light and two beeps, which is supposed to indicate immediate danger Will Robinson! But each time, I haven't been near anything other than a traffic light, so might have to get that checked out.

Take back what I said before about headunit and lack of touch screen. I've got really quick at using the comand knob, and combined with the linguatonics, it's all too easy. Really impressed with the sat nav. Great street building images, love the split screen when coming up to turns, offramps etc.

Biggest convenience thing I wish it had was remote window control from the key. I used to use this all the time, and really miss it. But that's about it. Can't think why anyone would be disappointed with one as long as they weren't expecting a soft forgiving ride, but then you wouldn't buy an A250 if that's what you wanted - would you?

Thanks for taking the time to update us, I'm one of the last guys here to receive my A250 so really hanging out for user reviews and posts. I hope the rattles from engine are not too bad, I never noticed them on my extended test drive. Although I did notice a few rattles in the A200Cdi I test drove. I love hitting the corners hard so I'm sure I will love this. I used to have an RX2 that I loved to hammer through the corners. Up in mt Macedon I still remember doing a 10Km/hr hairpin at 80. But I don't know how that would feel in a front wheel drive. The Mazda just loved it and I would boot it and the rear end would just swing around. Although the passenger seat took a beating, probably a few finger nail prints under the seat from my passengers.
Anyway hope the problems are easily ironed out. Let us know how the dealers deal with them as I'm sure we are all interested to see if the customer service stands up to the name.

interesting to hear your thoughts clip. re the collision warning. mine never ever will highlight unless on the move and too close to car in front. only time it will flash and beep if near miss and way way too close ie need to take adverse action to avoid smacking in the car in front.

if you are stopped. well as you slow down to under 30km/h have a peep at the collision warning system indicator on top of the speedo the one that while on the move has two cars with an exclamation indiocator on it. ie tells you the system is engaged. when you slow under 30 km/h it should switch to the P symbol. if you have stopped and still have collision warning engaged that would be a problem I wiould think. i dont know where the radar sensor is but wonder if something stock on it like leaf or something. anyways I would get dealer to check over. let us know what you find :)

Hi Clip,

What's your average fuel use like? How many km's are you averaging per tank?

Mine get's built tomorrow and the wait is driving me insane!
