AMG ONE [Official] Mercedes-AMG Project ONE

The Mercedes-AMG One (R50, previously known as Project One) is a limited-production plug-in dual hybrid sports car manufactured by Mercedes-AMG, featuring Formula One-derived technology. Production: August 2022 – 2025 (275 units planned).
it was rumoured to be 1100kg-1300kg, it ended up being 1700+kg, underselling the weight is very common in hybrid supercars but this was a lot of weight and if there's one thing F1 teams know it's how to save weight

This car wasn't built by the F1 team. It was built by AMG.

Tobias Moers, the head of AMG when the project started, jumped to Aston Martin in part because this project was such a mess. He didn't last long at AM either.

Some potential owners dissapointed.
The 275 cars were all already sold out long before it officially launched a few weeks ago. Certainly Mercedes Benz would have communicated to all the owners that there would be delays till they would receive their final cars and also some reduction in performance compared to original estimates. I do think that the claimed figures, especially 0-100km/h in 2.9sec is very conservative for the power and weight of this car and it also has AWD so should be blistering off the line. It most likely could be a match for the SF90 considering they very closely matched in power and weight.

The 765LT is an absolute steal for anyone who wants hypercar performance and look-alike design without a million USD price tag.

BTW. How competative was the CLK GTR when it launched?

Thank you. The thought that owners were surprised by the recent public disclosure of the car's specs is somewhat comical. They had plenty of time to be disappointed. :)

All 275 cars are long sold but almost 50 of them were sold to US customers with the promise that the car will be certified there. Since it's already clear that it won't be certified it's very possible that some of these 50 customers will sell their allocations. So if someone is badly in love with this car, maybe there is still a chance to get one.

The problem of the CLK-GTR was that it was launched just a few years after the McLaren F1, so it wasn’t as fast as this in straight line. Around a lap maybe it was faster as it probably had more downforce than the F1.

I’ll never stop being vocal about this. People don’t understand how good the 765 is until they drive it. Should be worth $1mm. It’s numbered. It looks insane. The performance is completely nuts. Most of my passengers go in excited and then want out after one or two hard pulls. People just can’t comprehend the capabilities.

SF90 to me felt quicker under 80 mph, but once the tires hook 765 is quicker above 100 mph (for what that’s worth) but the 765 feels like a go cart. The SF90 is really the only comparable car in terms of price per performance and it gets there as a technical marvel. Not very feelsome. Low visibility. Brutal acceleration. But heavy and compromised for it.

the 765 is like a big ballistic go cart. Suffers from some lower speed traction issues until tires are hot but it’s so beautiful to drive in every way that’s easily forgivable. It feels so light and monstrous simultaneously.

I doubt a single ONE owner will think to complain about what I am reading on this forum. This car will be worth five times as much 10 years from now. It will be barely driven.

Also, I am puzzled by people taking issue about a F1 inspired car that has full airbags and road-worthy safety. None of that comes without weight penalties.

So your point is, the car will appreciate in value, hence no one should point out how it fell short of what was advertised?

Also, I am puzzled by people taking issue about a F1 inspired car that has full airbags and road-worthy safety. None of that comes without weight penalties.
But what puzzles me is why MB engineers didn't have your insight when they advertised 1100kg?

The 4WD system alone added a lot of weight, complexity and cost. That's got nothing to do with F1, at all. That's not F1 tech, that's keeping up with Jones's.

I haven't read the 1100 kg figure anywhere. It was written that it would weigh 1400 kg.
I was just going by whatever was in the article above. I don't know what Mercedes claimed.

Edit: Actually the claim was 1300kg DIN -

Due respect, my perspective is I am willing to bet, again - due respect - you are not one of the prospective owners. Each of them probably can get an actual F1 car. The product here is exclusivity, not metrics.

I am of course not a prospective owner. And short of a windfall, will never be. Are you implying that only prospective owners should discuss this car's merits?

What about other cars? Should the discussion be limited to "prospective owners" of those cars?
