C-Class [Official] Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a series of compact executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range, the C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's line-up until the W168 A-Class arrived in 1997.
CLA is bigger as well, or i'm wrong?

No you are not:

CLA is bigger (and higher and wider), but mostly because of the overhang on both sides, because it actually has a bigger wheelbase.

It's an entry level AMG, probably much more affordable and with enough distance to the AMG 63 models. Yes, no one man-one engine philosophy on this one, but therefore you pay much less. A few months ago I thought different, but now it's fine with me. Besides, it has more AMG in it than some of us might think.

Right on the same line as my thinking. I admit the handmade engine is not present, but that doesn't mean it's not an AMG, I mean it's more AMG than any standard run of the mill C-Class is, for the record, it does still feature the majority of the chassis tweaks of the larger C63, along with the sports 9G, AMG RIDE CONTROL and sports steering. So in conclusion, IMO it is still an AMG, just without the hand built engine, which is fine for this price point.

Mercedes really needs to rework their numerical strategy for the AMG models. It is really messy nowadays.
The numbers should come closer to the engine displacements like it was back in the day.

2.0liter turbo 4 A, CLA25 AMG/ 3.0liter biturbo V6 / C, E32 AMG / 4.0 biturbo V8 C45, *upcoming E45 AMG , S45 AMG.

It's more like AMG-lite, no? Like the BMW M Performance line?

I find it to be slightly confusing. My best comparison would be the Audi S4. A BMW M performance is more 'normal'

Why not CLA20 AMG, C30 AMG and C40 AMG? Sounds cool, compact and is on the mark.

No it's not. CLA is a rival to a Renault or some similar FWD people mover.
No need to dislike this btw dear MB fans, I think exactly the same about the FWD Bimmers.
Yes , if you live in world made of tulips and free drugs.
Price wise CLA competes with 2-series, just like 1-series and A-class...

Price wise lots of cars compete, but that doesn't mean they actually do in real life. The BMW is a slightly cramped 2 door coupe with RWD, the CLA is a 4 door sedan with FWD (which means much more interior space particularly in the back)
The 1er and A are both hatchbacks, so that's different.

And the drugs is not free :(
The tulips for the most part are free in the season though :D
I'll send you a nice collection when they're in season (no not the drugs!)

But none of this would've been any different had it been called "C 450 AMG". Changing the name to AMG C 43 is a cynical attempt to make it seem like a fully-fledged AMG, which it isn't.

More option in engine is always better for consumers

Nobody's questioning the existence of the car. It's the name that's the issue.

I know, Betty. One might say, cynical attempt for the likes of us, with historical awareness. For all the other customers, it's an entry level AMG, called C43 as opposed the topdog C63.

I am just waiting for aftermarket tuners to work their magic on the engine ECU and raise the power output to around 440hp.

THIS! 100% THIS! I cannot understand why people keep comparing a RWD coupe with a FWD based sedan. Magazines / YouTube reviewers are also guilty of this. Just because each of these cars are their respective manufacturer's 'entry' models does not make them actual competitors in the marketplace.

With the absence of a better alternative, then they will be compared. The M2 will be compared with the A 45 AMG and RS 3. In terms of price and market segment, they're very much competitors. Just because they go about getting from A to B in different ways, it doesn't stop them from being cross-shopped.

There seems to be some bizarre misconception as to what "competitor" means. Models can be competitors even if one of them stands head and shoulders above the others in terms of what the customer is looking for.

Mercedes markets the CLA as a coupe.
On the MBusa website, the CLA is listed in the coupe category.

Nice, would be the one to own out of the whole engine range, but i wonder if that AMG name carries a premium just for the sake of the name.

I would much rater have C450 AMG, but it doensen't bother me so much that i hate the car..haha

I'm really disappointed with the silly naming of what should be the C450 Coupe, but also that the production GLC Coupe is not on hand. Maybe in April at Bejing? Or before at NYC in March? The rest of the E-Class story needs to unfold now too, people are getting nervous here in the U.S. at the thought of only a 4-cylinder E300 being availble in June.

Not huge on Gawker media, but this article raises the argument I have. All three brands have diluted the AMG/M/(R)S moniker for the masses, yet the actual performance models are more competitive then ever.

Specialty badging= huge profit margins

Will we see a GLE43, SL43, & CLS43 in the near future?

NO to the SL and CLS. They still have V8s in their lines outside of the AMG cars. The SL450 is already here and it has the same setup as these "43" cars which makes the whole thing so silly. GLE43 I'm sure we'll see in both regular and coupe forms, especially in the GLE Coupe since that is what the GLE450 is now. CLS400 has same engine, but 329hp instead of 362hp.
