P1 [Official] McLaren P1 Supercar

The McLaren P1 (codenamed P12) is a flagship sports car produced by McLaren Automotive. It is the second installment in McLaren's Ultimate Series after the McLaren F1. Considered to be the spiritual successor to the F1, the P1 was one of the first high performance sports cars to be introduced incorporating hybrid technology; the Porsche 918 Spyder having begun taking orders prior to the P1 and the LaFerrari introduced alongside it.

McLaren through its MSO division has taken the wraps off another one-off P1 hybrid supercar.

It seems McLaren Special Operations has worked on many of the 375 P1 units as yet another one has surfaced, this time belonging to David Kyte, chairman and founder of Hamilton Court FX. He went for a glossy blue exterior paint scheme combined with glossy black wheels and red accents on the front splitter, hood air extractor surrounds, side skirts, door surrounds and on the rear diffuser while the brake calipers also come with a red finish.

Step inside the cabin and you will notice the carbon fiber side sills with "McLaren Special Operations" lettering, a light blue center console, Alcantara-wrapped seats and an extensive amount of carbon fiber as on the other P1s, necessary to keep the weight down to just 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs) even though it comes with a complex hybrid setup.

McLaren had no problem selling all 375 cars as the P1 reached sold out status back in November 2013, just eight months after the hybrid supercar was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

McLaren P1 Prost
2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed sees a special McLaren P1™, prepared by MSO, with inspiration drawn from the patriotic French livery of the helmet worn by four-time Formula 1 world champion, Alain Prost. Colour-matched to the famous design, the carbon fibre bodywork of the Prost-themed McLaren P1™ is white with blue graphics and red highlights.

So McLaren/MSO owns this car as opposed to a customer or Prost?

There is no written indication of this being either Prost's or a customer's car at this point. So I deduce that this is an MSO owned car liveried like so to attract a buyer at Goodwood.

It is US spec and chassis #203, so it must be a customer car. There is a Senna liveried one on display, US spec as well.

Bit too late but it seems the P1 is finally growing on me... guess it is time to admit that this thing, while not as refined and civilized as the 918 Spyder, or not offering the same sense of zest and passion as the LaFerrari, is the best possible thing to come out of Britain..Certainly better than...erm...HIM

For the record, as much as I have this new-found love for the P1....Among the three, still think LaFerrari is the KING
