12C [Official] McLaren MP4-12C

The McLaren MP4-12C, later rebranded as the McLaren 12C, is a sports car produced by McLaren Automotive. Manufactured between 2011 and 2014, the MP4-12C was available as both a coupe and a retractable hard-top convertible, the latter known as the "Spider".
Thanks Guibo, good post.

I think some R&D could be recovered by licensing some solutions. This, however, relies on the MP4 being somewhat successful.

That's how is goes. Mclaren is more than an F1 team and car manufacturer. They generate a lot of revenue through licensing. For example, they provide ECU's to all F1 teams and are now in the process of introducing DI to NASCAR. Plenty of technologies are licensed to companies outside the automotive industry in addition to consultancy services.

Ferrari F70 with chassis by McLaren :D

Never gonna happen of course, but a screaming Ferrari V12 with the reported dynamic abilities of the new Mclaren would be some car!

The MP4-12C is not souless as is GT-R. I just like it that hte McLaren is so to say souless. It is a car to be driven and not for showing off, like it is the case of most Ferraris. I see more Ferraris in centre of Paris and Rome than on track. On track I see Porsches 911 GT3. If the McLaren is not for show it is a good thing, I hope only the ones that appreciate it for its technology, abilities will drive it and not the soccers/stars. Let them continue drive the bling-bling car, unfortunately nowerdays Ferrari is one of these, prouved by Ferrari themselves with the new 4WD Ferrari FF.

PS: One thing the MP4-12C has not are centre-lock rims as do have the Porsches 911 GTX, Turbo and Carrera GT.

There are rumors the MP4-12C runs the N-Ring close to 7 min, some said 7 min flat, and some under 7 min. This would be the fastest street leagal car ever, yet it can be as comfortable as a Mercedes.

No end, how it is amazing. I wonder if Ferrari will go FI or stay NA. Looks like the Ferrari has only two things better than the Macca: its sound and that is is a Ferrari. Next fights for the MP4-12C: 911 Turbo (991), Aventador, 458 Scuderia, Gallardo successor.

According to that tachno-picture the engine can rev over 8500 rpm easily... wow :D

0-300km/h time of 24,5s is mentioned in the new EVO.

Rumored Top Gear track time of 1:15 was mentioned on rennteam. That would be 4s quicker than 458 Italia and as quick as Ariel Atom V8. Another rumour indicates 1:17 lap time. So 1:17 with normal tires and 1:15 with corsa tires ?

200-300 Kph 16.4s?
...GT2 RS (620ps, titanic torque, good CxS and lightweight) does 19s (avg) / 17.3s (best ever)
...or this rumor is no-correct, or the MP4 is understimate.

PP10 = prototype = no customer specs.... :happy001:

I really can't blame anybody for loving Ferrari, so it's also understandable that certain reports about Ferrari's efforts regarding their test cars don't sit well with you.

That being said, you should know right from the beginning that I won't allow you to derail threads about other cars to prove your point. You're free to say what you want about this matter in the respective thread, no matter how much or little sense it makes. Going forward, any efforts to try to drag other theads into will be deleted though.

Best regards,
south

I was just kidding about the sticker on the side of the car.... :eusa_doh:
best regards :t-cheers:

McLaren claiming to have a new and more affordable method of using CF and Lamborghini claiming the very same thing. It appears that how the CF is used is as much a sell point as anything else.

I'm looking forward to seeing this car do battle with the establishment where I reckon it will knock seven bells out of them no doubt.

Sorry Mafalda, I assume everyone knew the term CF for Carbon Fibre, will try and be clearer in future. :t-cheers:
