Mazda6 [Official] Mazda 6

The Mazda 6 (known as the Mazda Atenza in Japan, derived from the Italian attenzione) is a mid-size sedan produced by Mazda since 2002, replacing the long-produced Capella/626. The 2003 Mazda6 is essentially the seventh-generation Mazda 626, part of the 'G' model code family.
Looks pretty good. Everything spot on, except maybe that front end. Dont know about that nose piece.

The current car looks way better imho. Or maybe thats because I just got one. But after all the turbo charged VWs, boy is it gutless!

Ok its not run in with only 400km on the clock, but I doubt it will get any better. Skyactive tech impressive but I think it will be under powered just like the CX-5. The 2.5 is four cylinder? Jeez...

Toyota Supra, Nissan Silvia, simply timeless.

Supra and Silvia timeless? Com'on Alex!

About the Mazda, looks nice, but too Infitiqueste to my taste; the rear part is too japanese generic.
Impresive technology tough, and being Mazda, must be extremely reliable.

Regards!

I wonder if the new Mazda6 that comes to U.S is assembled in Japan or Mexico?

Mazda6's coming to NA are made in Japan.
Thank you sir. Finally, someone answered my question after nearly 4 months. By the way, Mazda 6 is priced around few hundred dollars more than their main competitors (Toyota, Nissan and Honda). Now I am waiting for the diesel version to arrive here in the U.S. Hopefully, they don't price it too high.

LOL, no worries. I am looking into this and the new Accord for my parents. My dad was originally going to go for 328i, but we have to replace our newer family car due to an accident. They both have real redeeming traits.

For the exterior, I think the Mazda 6 is better looking than the Honda Accord ( not by much). However, Honda Accord has a better interior than Mazda 6.

Agree fully.

The 6 looks to have a more interesting exterior with seemingly better driving dynamics. Whereas the Accord has a more refined interior and a better reliability track record; the handling is better than most mid-sized family sedans, but the 6 seems to be better. Also Accords, historically, have better resale value. I also like the new Accords' exterior too.

We've had 2 Accords, the first one is 18 years old and still drives well, and the other one was 8 years old and was just as bullet-proof until it got totaled. As my dad's not a speed demon, he wants the most trouble-free car. I'm not too aware of Mazda's reliability and since the 6 is new from the ground-up for 2014, it's hard to gauge how trouble-free it'll be.

I have read from the Autoblog website today about the delay of the Mazda6 diesel. The official news from Mazda says they will release the diesel version late spring of 2014. By that time or late summer of 2014 , we will see the new diesel engine from VW, new MB W205, new Audi A4 . So the diesel offering will heat up by next summer. What an exciting time to shop for diesel car. My question is what will the mpg rating for Mazda6 diesel be as it is such a long delay.

Mazda6 / Atenza subtle facelift leaks out

Mazda Atenza facelift
Looks very similar to Takeri concept
Several images of the Mazda6 / Atenza facelift have hit the web ahead of an imminent official reveal.

It seems Mazda is just about ready to apply a mild styling update on the JDM-spec Atenza in both sedan and wagon body styles as a few photographs of a sales handbook have emerged showing a few design changes which make the model look even more like the Takeri concept that previewed the current generation. Up front we notice the headlights have different graphics while the grille has received an elegant aluminum/chrome finish and its margins appear to be thicker, especially in the area connecting with the headlights.

Bringing a "big change", the revised Atenza has slightly smaller fog lights and above them on the front bumper are aluminum fins mirroring the grille's finish. Moving at the back, except for the slightly altered taillight graphics we don't notice any other tweaks but it's hard to spot them given the low-res quality of the pics.

Inside the cabin there's a two-tone black & white color scheme, a standalone touchscreen display, an electric handbrake and some chrome inserts on the dashboard and door handles.

A full reveal will occur later this month when the Mazda6 will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, alongside the CX-3 and CX-5 facelift.

I'd say the Mazda 6 has one of the best designs, if not the best, in its price segment.

Mazda is on a roll. They're IMHO the best mainstream auto maker: good looking exteriors and interiors (the best of any japanese manufacturer, Lexus and Infiniti included), excellent handling, good fuel consumption, good reliability.

A nicer interior was just what the 6/CX-5 where lacking, and it seems they have resolved that. Looking foward to the official unveiling.

The current Mazda 6 in my eyes is the best looking family saloon on the market, it's styling is so sleek and elegant in a world of so many dull and conservative designs (such as Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata etc). This facelift improves in that in the details, new headlights and grill look great and the interior upgrade makes it even more appealing. Combine that with great engines and you have a winner with this car, but the biggest rival it has to face now is the very good new Passat.........mmmmmmmmm

Mazda is getting better since they got out of Ford. What they need now is to revive the Mazda 9 , make it a true RWD sport sedan to compete with Infiniti Q50 or Lexus G350.

I agree with you but I don't know if they will build a 9 again. Can you really see a 9 selling well with a 4 cylinder engine? Mazda like Volvo have gone down the 4 cylinder only route for the future.

Actually, Mazda does not have to make the 9 as big and long as Lexus GS350. They can stay with the current 2.5l I4 , just add turbo and tune it to 270 to 300 hp and 300+ lb/ft torque then voila! Just make the size of Infiniti Q50, MB C300 or BMW 3er. I think they will sell.

Mazda haven't turbocharged any of the new Skyactiv engines, the engines were designed around a very high compression ratio, to redesign to add a turbo might be a difficult proposition.
