Official Thread [Official] Lotus Electric Hypercar now confirmed

Love the looks. Much better than SF90. Reminds me of a more compact LaFerrari with nice details -

I said before, BEVs are a boon to the small manufacturers with out the know how or means to develop and manufacture complex IC engines.

On the flip side, I wonder how they are going to justify a 2 million price tag, especially...
The el motor is new only to the automotive industry. Thete are companies with good expertise that can supply all the important components and for the manufacturer of the car remains only to develope the body and the suspencion. And exactly this gives a big advantage to the small companies, because they do not have thousands of engineers and the responsibility to keep them busy. For noe, especially the German legacy producers do not exploit the freedom that the el motor gives them and try to adjust the production according tbeir existent competence instead to break lose and start everything from the beginning. The small companies and the Chinese will show them how it should be done. I'm sure that this Lotus costs just a fraction of the amount for the development of the i8 and in the same time it will be incomparably besser. The price tag is exorbitant but I'sure this is not due to the technology but due to the advantage this car has over the current breed of sports cars.

I was always a Lotus and TVR fan. Loved the Esprit from the 90's, the Elise and the Exige Cup 430. I really do hope that this car and the new TVR Griffith go in production and succeed!

In terms of aesthetics, I prefer the Pininfarina Battista and Rimac_2. But otherwise, a great entry into the BEV hypercar segment. BEV platforms offer myriad opportunities in automotive exterior design. And as exterior design will become an increasingly important, crucial actually, factor in the electric era, I look forward to what the future holds. A renaissance of the coachbuilders, for example. BEVs' need not be lounge capsules.

I think it is bold of them to claim some of those numbers considering they did not have a rolling prototype up until recently . In the Top Gear article it was mentioned that Lotus only completed the first rolling prototype recently. So I doubt they would have even time to test it out.
For a 2000 hp car I think 0-100 will be in less than 2 sec and not 3.

Errr... guys... Tesla Roadster, being delivered next year... 25% faster, similar acceleration, more then TWICE the range and an EIGHTH of the price... pfffttt.. Lotus... too little, too late.

Well about Tesla... You cannot believe Musk everything he says. Will believe it when I see it. Same with the Lotus and the rest, Pininfarina, etc...

I didn't know the Tesla roadster could do 186 mph in less than nine seconds . Source please?

The shift buttons read "DNR." I mean, if this car and other forthcoming projects don't help Lotus' fortunes, then a DNR might just very well happen. Though I perish to think that may be the case.

I like the flying buttresses-ish at the back and the taillights surrounding the openings. I also kind of prefer the Pininfarina Battista in terms of looks.

I believe the claim is an 8.8 second quarter mile, which in the real-world is likely to be

to a 186mph quarter speed.

I mean, that's what it says when they take your reservation money, what source could possibly be more reliable than a salesman chasing a deposit?
