IS/RC Official Lexus IS-F Thread (Pics & Info)

Is that weight with the driver and gas?

Good question. I'm afraid I haven't anything concrete to answer such...

All I can say is that Lexus claims a standard IS350 weighs 3,527lbs, but Road & Track has the regular IS350 listed with a kerbweight of 3,620lbs with the actual test weight (including driver, at perhaps 180lbs?) at 3,800lbs.

So, it looks like Lexus used an empty figure for 350...

US Pricing for 2008 Lexus IS F Announced

Almost exactly a year since Lexus first introduced the IS F high performance sport sedan at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, we finally get official pricing and at a recommended retail price of $56,000 there will surely be no shortage of takers. The main rival to the Lexus IS F will be the BMW M3 which will be launched in the US this coming Spring and will likely be priced a little higher at $62,500.

Powered by a performance tuned 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 416 horsepower ,the Lexus IS F is the first of what could be a line of new models to wear the “F” badge and is the fastest Lexus ever built. It accelerates from 0 to 60mph in just 4.6 seconds (thats quicker than the M3) and can reach a top speed of 170mph.

There is still no word on exactly when the IS F will be launched in the USA but after this announcement we expect it to be soon.

The IS F has shaped-up quite well. A great effort on Toyota's behalf.

It won't sell in numbers anywhere close to its German rivals, but its on-road performance will grow the credibility of the F brand and eventually Lexus itself.

Now if only Lexus could add a mid-level coupe to their lineup... for crying out loud.

For the driving entertainment the IS F is able to deliver, the asking price is right on the money. It's enough to register as a plus against the M3, but not so low as to seem like value pricing.

Nobody would accuse you of buying the IS F because it was cheap.

Rightly said, Josh. :usa7uh:

The price is just like I wanted it to be. I'm glad that Lexus didn't get ahead of themselves. With that price it's position between the M3 and S5. Very reasonable since the car lack any form or legacy or history.

Anyone else see this? I was looking around this thread and didn't see this particular picture. I feel cheated...

Hopefully the ISF pricing would force BMW to price M3 below $60K. Magazines are busy predicting $65K, which is ridiculous considering the old one was just $48K.

Yeah, horrible mistake by Lexus and I wouldn't be surprised if it actually costs them sales. I wonder if there is any danger of the black plastic mesh catching fire from the exhaust heat.

Very unexpected. Anyone will be allowed to kick me in the ass if Lexus manages to sell more than 100 in the Sweden this year.
