F-Type [Official] Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type (X152) is a series of two-door, two-seater sports cars manufactured by British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar Cars marque from 2013 to 2024. The car's JLR D6a platform is based on a shortened version of the XK's platform. It is the so-called "spiritual successor" to the E-Type.

Report – Jaguar F-Type Coupe to get RS and GT versions

Jaguar unveiled the F-Type coupe at the Los Angeles Auto Show and Tokyo Motor Show last week. While we were expecting the Coupe to get the same engines with the same power outputs as the convertible, Jaguar introduced the F-Type R, the fastest and most powerful F-Type to be put into production.

The 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine in the F-Type R is tuned to produce 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque. This enables a 0-96 km/h sprint in 4.0 seconds and a top-speed of 297.6 km/h.

According to an Autocar UK report, the buck doesn’t stop there and in the coming days, more powerful and performance oriented F-Types are on the anvil.

Jaguar design director, Ian Callum, said that the company will “maximize the opportunity in the car in every direction”. He also said that the body (chassis) of the F-Type could handle the powertrain (more powerful versions of the 5.0-liter V8).

According to Jaguar global marketing director Steven de Ploey, the company has a well balanced product plan for each and every car, and an F-Type R-S is one possibility.

Deliveries of the F-Type coupe begin in March next year in the UK market. With prices starting at 51,235 pounds (52.33 lakh rupees), the base coupe is 7,285 pounds (7.44 lakh rupees) cheaper than the base convertible.

I do love the shape of the F-type but if I had to be picky I think the rear overhang would be even better with an extra 2-3 inches.

A lot of conflicting opinions abound on this forum about how formidable this car is versus it's competition but I think most will admit that she's a looker.

Most people never even get close to the limits on whatever car they purchase, whether it's the best handling or not it won't matter for most buyers, for this kind of car so long as it drives well it will sell on looks alone; I think most will agree, it's certainly better looking than anything built by the Germans.

No, but most people will feel a vast difference between this and a Cayman (S) in regular driving too. And then we aren't even talking about the tech gadgets that are non existent.

And better looking than the Germans? Well, that depends on the way we see it. Not many Roadsters come from Germany. BMW only has the Z4, and MB only has the SLS if we forget about the SLK and SL (which we do, because we are talking about beautiful cars). Both look better imo. Everything Porsche makes that compares to F type looks better too. And Audi only has a rebadged VW Golf (TT), so that doesn't count in my book.

But I agree with Rurella, the F type IS a looker. Right now it's a beautiful new car for which I turn my head when I see it. But next year I won't do that anymore. It will be 'been there, done that". Just like every other Jag, looks can only get you so far before things get boring.

Consider the 911, which has timeless iconic beauty to klier's point. The Cayman/Boxster would get my vote in this class in looks and from a driving perspective as well (which is most important to the majority on this forum I believe). The Z from BMW is a great looking car and the new 4 and 2 series are also exceptional albeit in a different class. Also, MB has the new SLC on the horizon and that looks outstanding, even in camouflage.

So I would say this Jag is great looking and very different from it's German rivals, not better.

Of course you'll notice a difference, the Jag has steering feel, whereas Porsche have eliminated steering feel, much to the distress of many buyers, this was once a key selling point of Porsche, electric steering hasn't done Porsche any favours. And then there is the big difference between a front, rear and mid engined car.

And then there is the Chris Harris review, amongst others, I'll take what he has to say over any loud mouth on an internet forum, he loved it.

I think you'll find that most drivers will play with the techy gadgets for a few days then completely forget about them.

On this forum maybe, but I bet that for the vast majority of buyers driving enjoyment is secondary, it's looks and badge that count in this segment. If you really want to buy a car for the sheer pleasure of driving then buy a Caterham 7, very little comes close.

Not sure what your basing that on but you are certainly entitled to your own opinion. I have found Porsche owners in particular to be much more passionate about the driving part of the equation.

Yeah... is there anything that looks better than this... I'm totally BLOWN AWAY!!!!
That ass... in that color! :hungry:

Dear KiwiRob, would you be kind to share with us your drive experience with both cars (preferably with pics) in order to know how you came up with that conclussion?

I'll love to read it. ;)

And just when I thought I had heard it all, now Jaguars have better steering feel then Porsche's? I think the kiwi juice is laced...... :hungover:
