F-Type [Official] Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type (X152) is a series of two-door, two-seater sports cars manufactured by British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar Cars marque from 2013 to 2024. The car's JLR D6a platform is based on a shortened version of the XK's platform. It is the so-called "spiritual successor" to the E-Type.

^ So, Jaguar's ultimate 'sports car' slower than a near 2-tonne grand tourer 4-seater M6 and a $55k Yank muscle car. Hmm.

Auto Bild loved it so much they couldn't be bothered to spell its name. Still looks like a 90s Toyota Supra, and within 3 years will be worth not dissimilar.

There are many cars slower and much more expensive than the F-Type that wouldn't beat an M6 or the "&55K Yank muscle car". Your completely blind, and utter hatred of anything JLR we get. The propaganda and utter BS you post is tedious and makes you look a fool.

Let's discuss the MB SL shall we? How about that? Where would that have come in this test? It's heavy, has questionable looks, would have been beaten by a "two-tonne GT car". And it's expensive.

The SL is a GT. The F-type Coupe is claimed to be a no compromise sports car. The 'R' the top version. Have I missed something?

The SL is a heavy-by-concept metal folding-roof convertible/hard top GT, for rich retirees - with a boot, and insulation. The F-type Coupe is supposedly the distillation of all Jaguar's sporting heritage and pedigree, with 550 hp and 1,650 kg kerbweight for the top 'R' model.

The fact that it can't beat a 1,900 kilo plus 4-seater, similar-powered BMW M6 grand tourer says to me that Jaguar is once again pulling the wool over mug punters' eyes. It weighs not far off the M6's weight in reality, and due to it being no more than a 'manx-tailed' version of the almost 10 year old XK, it cannot put what power it has down, due to its nose-heavy weight distribution, and high engine position, over the front axle.

It is not a sports car, as shown by its lap times. It's at best an English version of an American muscle car; at worst a tired old platform with too much power to handle it, flogged ultra cynically as the heir to the E-type. It's just JLR up to their old tricks of mutton as lamb, and this time, unlike the similarly ghastly and cynical Evoque, they've traduced the priceless inheritance of the great E-type, in order to flog a few units of this nasty deceiving product.

Then don't buy one! Simple! Why do you constantly post the same crap day in day out though?! If I went into the SL thread on a daily basis and posted "the front of this is ugly" how long do you think I would get away with it? Look at how people eventually got pissed off at KA constantly posting about "lines" on the Mercs? Look at how people got pissed off at Levi constantly filling threads with his "opinions". You can have an opinion but to constantly post your anti-JLR diatribe is TROLLING. I couldn't give a fig about JLR, but I sure as hell care that you're using this forum to relentlessly post the same crap day in day out.

This constant behaviour boarders on a child's tantrum being dissatisfied with mummy. So what it was only marginally beaten by currently BMW's ultimate 'sports coupe' a company which has vastly greater resources and a long history in developing sports cars, oh and another thing unless the 6 series coupe has grown you'll struggle to get 2 in the back so another example of twisting the truth to suit your agenda.

M6 is no ultimate sports coupe, that was the whole point. The M6 is a capable continent cruiser. A GT. With ample space, comfort and gadgets to play with.
And you will NOT struggle to get 4 adults in the coupe if the front passengers are <1.85 m. And then you always have the M6 GC which is just as fast and has as much space in the rear as a 5er. Not to mention a boot in which you can fit half an F type.

You can twist it what ever way you want to help out your mate but GT or not its BMW's quickest coupe with the most power, highest price tag.... their 'Ultimate'.

I've tried getting comfortable in the back of a 6 series and couldn't, either my legroom was compromised or the person in the front passenger was and heaven forbid trying to get comfortable behind the driver. Its a 2+2 at best and certainly not the 4 seater Kilcrohane was suggesting.

Autocar's latest comparison test of the new F-Type Coupe R version will have Kilcrohane up in arms.

Can't wait for the fireworks. :D

Shot in Japan, You Only Live Twice was one of Sean Connery's best James Bond movies. But we never got any good Japanese villains out of the deal, which is a bit of a shame. That's not a problem for British carmaker Jaguar, who has just the right car to top the Toyota 2000GT in terms of looks and trio of evil-doers it can ship over to the land of the rising sun.

We apologize for the cliches, but you just can't mention the F-Type Coupe without thinking of Sir Ben Kingsley, Tom Hiddleston and Mark Strong any more. Following a special launch event at the British embassy in Tokyo, the coolest two-door to come from Britain in about half a century is priced in Japan from 8,230,000 yen (€58,800 or $80,350).

That, of course, gets you only the base model with a 340 HP V6 engine, capable of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. For 10,290,000 yen ($100,450 or €73,570) Jaguar offers the somewhat more impressive F-Type S Coupe with 380 HP. Or you could go all-out and hand over 12,860,000 yen (€92,000 or $125,460) for the ultimate version, the 550 HP F-Type R with a supercharged V8. If the red brake calipers and 20-inch wheels don't impress you, the 4.2 seconds it takes to reach 100 km/h certainly will.

Almost 13 million yen might seem like a lot of money to pay for the top-spec Jag F-Coupe. But a Porsche 911 is even more expensive. A base 911 Carrera is 12,550,000 yen (€89,736 or $122,551), while a 4S with comparable performance is 16,550,000 yen ($161,610 or €118,353).

The launch of the British sportscar in Japan is being accompanied by the "Good to Be Bad" and "British Villains" commercials, which will begin airing on Japanese television at the end of June. The party organized by Jaguar at the United Kingdom Embassy for the F-Type Coupe's launch was attended by local celebrities Tsuchiya Anna, Angelica Michibata, Girolamo Panzetta, Melody Yoko and Neko PUNCH.

There was a black F type coupe parked at the end of my street yesterday, have to admit it look surprisingly exotic.

Jaguar Considering Lighter F-Type, May Get Powertrain from the C-X75 Concept

The limited edition Jaguar F-Type Project 7, revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last week, is not only the fastest and most powerful production Jaguar ever made, but also the lightest F-Type to date. Thanks to its an all-aluminum body and other weight-saving measures, the car weighs 1,585 kg (3,494 lbs) – 80 kg (176 lbs) less than the F-Type Roadster it’s based on.
However, Jaguar is looking to develop an even lighter model, one that would use innovative powertrain technology from the stillborn C-X75 hypercar, including the 1.6-liter supercharged and turbocharged engine.

“The Project 7 is 80kg lighter, but there are smaller engines that start from a lower point. Will the Project 7 be the lightest ever? I’m not sure, but we haven’t invented it yet,” Paul Newson, director of Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division, told Auto Express.

One way to come up with a lighter F-Type would be to use the 1.6-liter engine from the C-X75, which produces 500hp and revs to 10,000 rpm. “We designed that engine for a £1million supercar, so it’s extremely expensive. But it could work well,” Newson said. “Who can say where we’ll go in the future? The world is downsizing with high-pressure engines. In the longer term, we won’t be using 5.0-litre V8s,” he added.

As for the upcoming products from the SVO division, a source revealed to the publication that two more will arrive at the beginning of next year, with more to follow. The cars are purportedly known internally as Project 8, 9 and 10.
