I second that. Sadly, a certain member will soon prove that many things are "wrong" under the sheet-metal, but let's be honest here, who would be willing to buy a new car with not the latest tech, chassis- and engine-wise, when it looks that good?

I would certainly be willing to compromise, for such awesome looks!

Very fair point and thinking of it again (after reading your post) I think what I wrote above is wrong.

Would I pick it over a 911 or an SL? Most probably, not. But the decision wouldn't be that easy.

It's indeed the same with Alfas and the like and it doesn't have to be in the 100k price range. When I was shopping for a car in the 30k price range I was actually considering the 159 (back then). If reason didn't win over feelings, I would be an Alfisti now

But sense takes over.
I guess that's why we are here on the german forum.

I wish one had the guts, or the money to buy something like that.

But when it comes down to the wire and your spending your hard earned money on your one and only car, its hard not to be sensible about it.

But it's not going to be the same price as the M6, SL or 911. Not at all.

Its not the age of the technology or anything that's really important but how its used, how it drives and even more important how it makes you feel whilst driving. Look at the 911, Porsche has doggedly stuck with a formula that for years wasn't working yet has fine tuned it into one if not the finest handling sportscars on the planet.

Don't let one man's biased nature dictate what is a very fine machine.

I wondered why the F-Type was still so heavy for a 911 rival. Isn't the F-Type just a short wheelbase XK and not a brand new one with new chassis?

It looks the same, just new body panels.

^^Not sure what is exactly different apart from dimensions but they do talk about new aluminum technology for parts of it's construction. In any case when you change a car's wheelbase and overall dimensions by the extent Jaguar has done between the XK and F-type it comes a completely different animal to drive.

I thought you had X-Ray eyes, and you could see that the new IS if just a huge facelift by looking at the body and that you could see the old E Class chassis in the new Quattroporte. You are not as objective as I thought.

I thought you had common sense. Quattroporte is a clear advancement of the same chassis used for the 300, as is the Ghilbi. I said the IS looks like it, but I clearly said "ok" at the end of that post, meaning I'm not challenging it. You're doing the same thing with based on a some stupid picture you created which is an even bigger assumption.

Kilcrohane will definitely be able to confirme that the F-Type is in fact a shorter and revised XK, so no new chassis.

For some very strange and suspicious reason I can't find any data on both vehicles. Google-it noephyte?

He already stated that it was a "cut and shunt" version of the XK/XJ Chassis, but anything he says is laced with some of the most potent brand hate I've seen.
