LaFerrari, project name F150, is a limited production mid-engine, mild hybrid sports car. LaFerrari means "The Ferrari" in Italian; this is intended to be the definitive Ferrari.
LaFerrari Has First Customer Crash in Monte Carlo

So, you think your Monday is terrible? Think again, or, better yet, head over to Monaco, where the LaFerrari has had its first customer crash, an unfortunate encounter with a Volkswagen Golf 6.

The first world crash took place in Monte Carlo, the European capital of supercars. As an educated guess, it looks like the Golf driver is the one to blame, which means that a host of other people, the team working for the company insuring him, also have what is probably their worst start of the week ever.

For those asking why the "customer" particle is in the title, we have to remind you the LaFerrari already had its first accident while it was in the testing phase. According to witnesses, the hybird hypercar, which was still wearing camouflage at the tine, was rear-ended by a truck on an Italian highway, in the proximity of Mantova.

Oh, and there was also that time when Kimi Raikkonen played LaFerrari tête-à-queue on Fiorano, but, luckily, that can't be labeled as an accident.

Update: For those willing to know, this is reportedly the LaFerrari chassis number 199508, holding a the 6844 Monaco plate. Now that the info has made our lives complete, we can tell you the Ferrari arrived in Monaco on 14th December 2013. The owner will probably have to take it to Scuderia Monte Carlo, the local Prancing Horse dealer, where, given then EUR 1 million (US$ 1.4 million) price tag of the car, the repair will probably cost just as much as the Volkswagen it colided with.

As for all those voices worrying about the fact that this is one of the only 499 units ever made, they should relax, those wounds can be healed. We've added a third photo below, so you can get a better view on how the Golf took the impact. What? the pic is 95 percent LaFerrari and 5 percent Volkswagen? Well, gues you'll have to make due with seing the damage on the hypercar then.

yeah.. I wonder how much one pays for full insurance coverage on a car like this

Here in US, what matters the most is your age, driving record & the claim history. Unless you've any 'special' coverage, you don't have to pay an extraordinary sum.

Speaking about Golf driver - How much lucky can you be to hit Ferrari LaFerrari?! There are people who saw this car only in pictures.

So when is Chris Harris's review video going to be released??

When are we going to get Chris's review?

From what I've heard on the grapevine (and this may not be true), is that allegedly he's fallen out with the owners of "Drive" and he's not authorising any more videos as he feels he's not being rewarded enough in relation to how popular he is. Some of his videos have received over one million views, so it seems reasonable. IMHO I think he's far superior to Jeremy Clarkson and he's a multi-millionaire.

Very bold choice from him, he had an Enzo in black before, wasn't expecting him to go for something like this.

This video has been posted but without the first part where Jay Kay explains his colour choice.

I'm really not so sure about an apple-green anything let alone a LaFerrari.

What about an apple?

This explains why there aren't any reviews from him in the past 2 months. Having said that, Harris is popular enough he can set up his own youtube channel.

Soooo sexy one

Stock car has 'only' 963 PS
One of the 499 LaFerrari owners has decided to take his expensive automobile to get it chip-tuned.

After recently purchasing Ferrari's latest flagship model, one customer decided to ask aftermarket specialists from JMB Optimering in Halmstad, Sweden to work on the supercar's V12 6262cc naturally-aspirated engine. In its standard configuration the engine generates 800 PS (588 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque at 6,750 rpm. Together with the electric motor, the LaFerrari puts out 963 PS (708 kW) which should be more than enough for most of us.

However, JMB Optimering is working to increase the total output of this grey LaFerrari to somewhere in the region of 1,050 PS (772 kW). The additional oomph will be squeezed from the twelve cylinder engine via chip tuning and this output matches that of the rumored track-only LaFerrari XX set to be launched next year in a limited series of 30 units.

Where did you hear this from? As far as I know, the Drive team are on a 2 month break filming new content for the next season. Now that they have a contract with NBC they have to maintain a much steadier flow and quality of content. They just wrapped up filming a BMW segment in Cape Town last week and this week they're filming at the Pagani factory in Italy. I don't think we're going to see anything new from Drive until September.
