Cheapest Z4 from 48.500 euros in my country.....that would be around $60.000 in the U.S.....for a simple 2.3i![]()
The engines in the Z4 are no older (or newer) than those in the E92.Similar here... but Im not very enthusiastic about new Z4.. its nice, but its heavy, got old engines.. somehow I still like E92 3 coupe with M package more - its sporty, elegant and useful and defenetly more "serious" car.
Yes, the engine in the Z4 sdrive35i is up-to-date. But the 23i and 30i models use older engines (N52) than those in the E92 (N53).The engines in the Z4 are no older (or newer) than those in the E92.
I think a direct injection, twin-turbo, variable valve control, six cylinder engine is about as modern as one could expect these days.
Furthermore, the E92 may be more practical but the E89 is much more dramatic looking, it'll be sportier to drive and will be more rigid. I'd rather have the Z4.

In his latest interview the M GmbH CEO Ludwig Willlisch ruled out the E89 Z4 M (as well at the F01 M7). Sorry.
Are there any road tests yet?
