Chiron [Official] Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car designed and developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH. It was manufactured in Molsheim, France, by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.. The successor to the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016.
I'm sick of all this hype about this car. It's the most meaningless, vulgar and pathetic car ever created. This will be bought by people with tainted minds from the excess of money. The world doesn't need it. I hate this car. I hate the people who created it. I hate the people who will buy it. Just imagine how many lifes could be saved with this amount of money. And I'm not trying to be original. This just should be tolerated no more.
The world doesn't need a lot of things, but we want them. You might not see the point but others on this forum do. Why aren't we all driving in Prius, or wear a $2 watch? Why do we need smart phones? Why do we need to "waste" billions per year on space exploration?

The existence of this car is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Formula one teams burn through hundreds of millions a year to run 2 cars in circles, do you hate them too?

This car is nothing for the mega rich who spent hundreds of millions on paintings, or diamonds for their daughters.

Objectively the Chrion is pointless but because of that, it is f*cking boss, it just doesn't give a f*ck about anything, and that suits me just fine.

Formula one is a thing tank, exploration of space is essential for all mankind, as are smart phones raising the productivity of all of us. But this car brings nothing. No revolutionary technology. Heavy pig with brutal power. This car adds nothing to its predecessor and most probably VW were quite lazy developing it. On the first generation they were losing a lot of money per car, but this time they will make profit out of it, because of less expenditure for R&D.

New Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport render looks legit

Four years into the Veyron's official launch in 2005, the even faster Grand Sport came along.
The Chiron has just made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show and, with 1,500 hp, it easily eclipses the most powerful variant of its predecessor.

If this number sounds ludicrous, remember that there are already not a few hypercars out there that nudge or even exceed the 1k mark, a figure previously unthinkable for a road-legal car. Even if the likes of Ferrari or McLaren don't indulge in the power race, Bugatti is nevertheless keen on pushing the envelope as much as possible.

Thus, if the past is any indication, at some point we should expect something akin to the Grand Sport for the Chiron. In the Veyron, apart from its upgraded engine, it had the added bonus of a removable roof. Open-top motoring was limited to 369 km/h (229 mph) - you probably wouldn't want to go faster in that configuration anyway...

Here's how it could like, then. Design-wise, this rendering is more convincing than the one we saw last month, when images of the new Bugatti weren't even official yet. Being a long way into the future, it's a logical conclusion that we'll see many more coming our way.

Formula one is doing too much thinking and not enough action. For the sake of this ongoing discussion, space exploration is extremely expensive and the arguably the money can be spent on saving this planet from destruction, this planet might not be around before we discover something ground breaking. It is some what questionable that smart phone raises productivity. People become more distracted than ever since they are glued onto their phone. It is true that people can do more things more of the time, but then again are they doing something useful?

I get what you are saying about the Chiron not bringing in any technical advance, I too was hoping it will have at e-turbos, really light weigh tech. But VW spent so much money on developing that drive train. they want to get the most out of it, which they are still doing by getting an extra 300 hp from it over the Veyron SS. I am sure Bugatti also push Michelin to the limit by asking so much from a tire.

Like it or not the Chiron has its unique selling point, it is the most powerful, most complicated ICE on the market, it is a piece of mechanical art. It is how the Chiron differentiate itself from other cars within the VW group, such as the 918, Aventador SV..etc. According to Bugatti's own market research, their clients have over 30 cars in their garage and several private jets. The running costs alone of the jets and cars alone can easily match the asking price of the Chiron. The money is there for the taking, as a business manager, you want to take that money. It is just part of the plan for companies to make money, there is nothing wrong with that, and there is no need to hate the people behind it.

Disagree on this. Take US's budgetary spending for example: US spending on NASA has been <1% of the Fed budget for the last 10-15 years, that's assuming all of the budgets allocated to NASA are spent on space exploration only. Highest percentage of spending on NASA was in 1966, which recorded 4.41%.

In comparison, US's spending on military has never been less than 15% for the last 20 years. Much more money is spent on potentially destorying people and the planet than is spent on space exploration.

Sorry for the off topic.

On topic, IMO, products like Chiron, LaFerrari, P1 and 918 are built because of engineers' aspiration to create things are better and faster in every way possible. That's of cause, on top of generating profits to the respective companies.

Chiron is a so stunning car,the more I look at it,the more I like it.But I find there's one thing in Chiron lags behind, that's the marks on the engine,it looks cheap and crude than Veyron.

Bugatti is back with 1,500hp, 261mph Chiron
Barely had our teaser story gone live than reports of the first showing of the all-new Bugatti Chiron were out. And as per the spec sheet shared by our colleagues at Autocar the car picks up where the Veyron left off. And then disappears into the distance, its full-width rear light glowing like the engines of a Star Wars spaceship. Probably does that streaky thing to the stars too when it's fully lit.

To continue where it was left, we were discussing how Bugatti was supposed to improve upon the 1,000hp and 922lb ft of the standard Veyron's quad-turbo W16. And the stats it delivered, like the 2.5-second 0-62mph sprint or - even more impressive - the 16.7 seconds required to reach 186mph from standstill. With half as much horsepower again, two-stage turbocharging and 1,180lb ft of torque the new Chiron hits that same speed in just 13.6 seconds. Which is, of course, ludicrous. To put that into some sort of perspective, at 6.8 seconds a McLaren P1 loses just three tenths to the Chiron from 0-125mph. But over the next 61mph to 186mph the Bugatti pulls out a lead of nearly three seconds. And then onto a limited top speed of 261mph, 44mph quicker than the P1 at flat chat.

Daft spec sheet bragging rights. But, hey, didn't we all start out playing Top Trumps?

Chiron will be profitable, fund Bugatti's next project

3691f0740747a22726a1ada9b9c1a1ae.webp

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show and being already sold out, the Chiron will end its maker's money-losing hypercar chapter.
At least this is what TheVerge claimes, quoting the firm's boss, Wolfgang Durheimer.

"We did our homework in every dimension. This car over its lifetime, with 500 cars and a base price of €2.4 million ($2.6 million), is adding into the bottom line result of Bugatti and we are making money with this project."

It is estimated that Bugatti lost between $4 and $6 million for each Veyron sold, the first project after its revival under the VW Group umbrella. Durheimer wants to keep all money inside, for a "next project".

What might that be? "I can't get the idea of a four-door limousine out of my head", he has already said.

Besides the new super-saloon, which is believed to join the Chiron over the next few years, an electric car might follow it, but this will be all because an SUV is definitely out of the question.

Of course it's going to make them money, that's why it's only a veyron 2.0

Love the engineering details and design follows performance function. That 8.0ltr W16 is an amazing achievement, its got electric actuated sequential turbos, look at the torque curve, unbelievable 1600nm from 2000rpm all the way up to the 6700rpm red line. Just imagine the massive thrust from low down already. The power to mass ratio is 552.88kw/ton but its the torque to mass ratio that is incredible 802nm/ton. The Veyron SS had power to mass of 479.87kw/ton and torque to mass ratio of 816.1nm/ton.

Looking at the specs, it has a massive 300PS (221kw) more than the Veyron SS so it should be much faster than what Bugatti have stated.

Plus minus estimates:

0-100km/h - approx. 2.2sec
0-200km/h - approx. 6.0sec
0-300km/h - approx. 12.5sec

Top speed (based on 0.35Cd and frontal area) = approx. 460km/h

Interesting.
So how much do you think is acceptable to pay for a car before you consider it to be 'intolerable'?

There are a lot of things that are only affordable to the mega-rich .....it seems you have a problem with some people having so much money.

Just remember, when a billionaire buys one of these he/she is supporting very specialised jobs that would not exist if the 'morality police' only allowed Toyota Camrys and VW Golfs.

Erm.......When I compare the two options....kinda glad the "morality police" are losing then

Pretty sure it already does have e-Turbos, no?
2 of the turbos have electronically controlled waste gates, but that is about it, there is no electric motor to improve turbo response.
