X5 [Official] BMW X5 (G05)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
Interior design is a nice evolution, however some of the switches, especially the switches on the doors are dated.

2019 BMW X5 revealed, here before year's end - photos | CarAdvice

A bit dissapointed by the absence of wood/aluminium trimis on the door panels, as the new wood trim seen in the interior photos looks very upscale. The F15 had them both on the front and on the rear ones. However, my first initial impression on the iDrive display has improved. And the new electronic gear shifter with the Crafted Clarity glass application and the translucent "X" logo is a spectacular feature. Pretty much like when the E70 introduced the sensational electronic gear shifter in November 2006, which made history at BMW.

Is there any official info about the weight? It was mentioned here previously that the new car is 40-100 kg heavier than the old one, which I highly doubt.

up to 40kgs depending on engine and equipment choice, according to some german car mags.

I've read the autobild review and there was nothing like this mentioned there.
The basic version will have the steel suspension (air one is optional), the same engine and transmission like before. It also has the CLAR structure, so it should be lighter in the basic configuration.
Anyway, I think that BMW changed the standard at which they measure the weight of the new cars (based on the changed weight of the M4 and the much bigger weight gain of the M2 competition)

The gearstick is basically Swarovski :ROFLMAO:, that aside the interior is awesome. The leather looks awesome.

Lovely evolution. I like the evolution of the dashboard and that they keep some physical commands (compared to all touch screen Audi).

They said pretty much same weight as previous X5, but...could be heavier in some cases based on the equipment chosen. Too many variables in play

Surprisingly according to AMS a third row will still be offered, although the X7 is coming.

I read that the X5 xDrive50i will not be available in Europe. Is this temporary and due to the new WLTP emission cycle (a reason for which the production M550i was also halted)?

It surprises me they are not talking about an X5 M50i instead, if I am to follow the latest M Performance trend.

No, it really isn't.

I suspect your understanding of it doesn't line up with the facts.
So, using carbon fiber and more lightweight steel doesn't result in weight reduction? Or without CLAR, it would weight 180kg more instead of 111kg?
