X5 [Official] BMW X5 (G05)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
I really really like the tail lights - refreshingly different! If I were to nitpick, it would be the air vents on the interior, otherwise a fantastic looking car, inside and out. Would love to see an all-electric version of it.

Not sure if the pics are too dark but, am I tje only one who cannot see trim insertion on the door panels? Besides a piece of añuminiun in the middle section of the door, there seems to be no trim at all.

If so I find it disappointing.

I must agree with you, they feel incongruous, fussy and “melted”. But the rest of the interior is such a step up..

I don‘t see it in the pics either but as far as I remember there is rather extensive trim lower in the door panels. Take it with grains of salt but I guess I already posted it some months ago when impressions were fresh: there is one smaller part of trim right below the door handle underneath the alu strip you were mentioning (in nice interplay with the grille from the sound system) and a bigger part covering the door pocket openings ... I remember it as a looker actually.

I don't want to come over as the ultimate BMW fanboy (which is hard I know), but I really like the vent design. I in fact really like everything about this new X5, from the very first glance.....and that doesn't happen very often, because I usually have to adjust to a new Bimmer....

There's a bit trim (wood) there (but it's mostly leather and some alu decorations):

That’s weird. I wonder how the ambient lightening is on the doors, since they’re usually on the top behind the trim piece to illuminate the handles etc. I do realize that there’s a small strip of light in this alu piece.

C‘mon guys ... whenever the family ressemblance topic is brought up with regard to recent MB models, it is played down etc. and, in this case, you think it‘s too much. Sorry, that‘s ridiculous. Of course, X3 and X5 look very similar in front view, but the differences - particularly proportion-wise resulting in much more aggressiveness in the X5 facial expression - are also obvious ...

What happened to creativity?

There's so much laziness in the recent years with car design not just from BMW but MB and definitely Audi the master of copy paste. The interior of C/GLC is identical, 5/7er, A6/7/8 and now the front design of the X3/5 and CLS/A-Class. Designers get paid huge amount of money by top auto manufacturers and they definitely should create better than this IMO.

This is nice, a massive improvement over the F15, but let's be honest, that isn't hard. I believe the F15 was merely a comprehensive facelift, an interim measure over the E70. I agree with the comments that the rear lights are not very BMW, but I guess change was needed.

Interior is so much nicer than the 5 series.

Can any of the mods can explain me - why the f we do not have an official thread with official pictures at least while waiting for press release???

Because we're looking at a leak I suppose. This all isn't happening right now in Munich.

That interior is gorgeous for sure, just like the 5-Series. The exterior is better looking than the X3 or X4, but I think the design will work best on the X7.

Aren't these the official pictures? Happened to finish up on some random web site, but down in the end, they're official, aren't they?

LEAKED official pics, as in posted before the embargo lifted. What's so hard to understand and why am I a Drama Queen? We do official threads when there's an official press release, and all this is just extra (and completely ruining it for BMW). Well, at least they have Youtube left ;)

Great job from BMW, the exterior is spot on!

Dashboard, central console and seats are nice, however the door panels are looking a bit cheap, there's not much trim on them like more wood or aluminum.

Oh and the buttons from my first car the E90, LOL

Got to say when Busty replied me I believe what is indeed the speaker was also part of the trim (blaim the potato quality of the pics). But with your pics it seems the trim insertion is quite minimal. The plastics and leather used will be top notch but, as a whole, I can't see how this interior language improves the previous one. The speedo, door handles and shifter area look great, the the central console design and the door panels are a bit off IMO.

The exterior on the other hand is just WOW.
