X5 [Official] BMW X5 (G05)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
That quite high praise coming from C&D who haven't really liked modern BMW's , they didn't even like the universally loved 5 series.

Because C&D was a BMW cheerleader when BMWs were BMWs, the sportiest cars in their classes. Now they're simply not, especially the 5-Series which is soft as can be and numbing/forgettable to drive. BMW seems to have realized this with the newest vehicles like the X5 and M5.

Some Chinese customers complained the bad quality of the optional merino leather in new X5,a brand new car after hundreds km,the leather turn into this.

Please provide references to such sources. Until then this is nothing more than conjecture.

These G05 X5 customers who suffered the leather quality issues asked the local dealers in China to give them a clear answer why this had happened,The dealer answered them they don't know what happened in G05 and this didn't happen in the last generation X5.The dealers just speculated maybe Bmw changed the supplier of leather in making of G05.
These Chinese customers are very dissatisfied about it,they asked the dealers to replace a new and qualified leather for them, otherwise some of them will go to the exhibition stand of Bmw to complain during Auto SHANGHAI which begins on April.

I look forward to the mass protest.

Sidenote: every car manufacturer, premium or mainstream, western or eastern has been afflicted by quality issues arising in the supply chain - some of which can be isolated to specific batches or production events - it's nothing unusual nor is it evidence of cost cutting.

Of course there is cost cutting ,for example, the so called crystal gear shift lever in G05,in fact,it's made up of cheap plastics,it costs cheaper than the traditional shift lever Bmw used before.

That's nice but please do provide the two OEM part numbers and their supplier catalog pricing for us to see as supporting information to your claim.

It seems like some are piling on the messenger. Unless the photo has been altered, that is terrible. I have been looking around lately at some new BMW X5's and also noticed that some of the leather in the back seats looks a little "loose". This was only looking through windows on vehicles outside in chilly New England, so take it for what it is worth.

The photo is evidence of a possible issue. The accompanying statement, and inferences thereof, is anywhere between 100% fact and 100% troll. In my humble opinion, Gdm has very low credibility when it comes to speaking fact, so I'm going to go along with calling for sources. That is not to say I don't accept that the X5 could have a problem with it's rear seat back rest leather padding or stitching design.

If we allow such things to go unquestioned I'd just like to point out that in the UK, the majority of Mercedes owners are complaining about terrible grade plastics, poor design, bad user interface, lying dealers, cocaine snorting service agents, and razor blades being sown into the steering wheel leather.

gdm is the new version of Footie - remember him?

Anyway, most of the assertions that gdm has allegedly purported cannot be verified without breaching highly sensitive and confidential commercial agreements. Doing so has significant ramifications.

gdm would be well advised to exercise caution when discussing such topics.

And the picture? My observations?

So Footie is back after all.

LMAO

And the picture? My observations?

You're right, it looks disgusting and unacceptable in that picture. Probably some isolated incident or some Chinese dealership doing all kinds of weird stuff with the car, like upholstering it themselves for some reason or something...

I wish you could see the smile on my face right now. I just love reading insane posts.

haha, some Bmw fans really hates me since I said some facts about BMW they dislike.

Bmw,in Chinese 宝马,meaning treasured horse.Years ago a bmw customer in China complained the dealer couldn't solve his car's quality problem when his new car mileages just reached 2000km,so he hired a real horse to drag the problematic Bmw car in the street to protest the bad quality of Bmw.
