X5 [Official] BMW X5 (G05)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
I can see where Autobild got their inspiration for the X5M render.

The X5M will be one hell of an SAV. Especially when the Competition model comes on line.

I still can't see the need for an X5M Competition. Unless you live in a part of the world that is blessed with ultra-smooth asphalt :t-hands:

I hope it has a better ride than the current X5 M. I test drove one back when I lived in the Midwest and immediately decided I’d have to buy something else.

Taking a leaf from the book of AMG.
I am sure the GLE will get additional "S" variant this time around.
Add an additional Performance enhanced variant to increase the bottom line of the core variant.
Marketeers have to market as well as
Profiteers have to profit.:D

The GLE already had a S variant.

The previous gen X5 was really the ugly duck of the X5s.
There was nothing ugly about the previous X5. It was a lot of things but ugly wasn’t one of them. In the right specs it was one of the nicest looking SUVs out there. I thought the X5M was on a bad day second only to the Range Rover.

Has there ever been a bad X5?
Given that each generation built upon the character of the first generation. Itself a completely ground breaking vehicle marking it as a true BMW and a new way to bring an SUV as close to the road as possible.

The E53 was so popular it was sold out for eighteen months globally and help put BMWs Spartanburg plant on the map to become the plant par d'excellence and the home of the BMW SUV. Eventually becoming the largest Automotive exporter in the US.

Then we got the E70 building on the E53 by being more modern and introducing a third row. One of the questions asked by E53 owners. If you can remember back in the day when we were all going crazy about the interior spy shots revealing the swan neck transmission stick.

E70 also began the introduction of the BMW expansion strategy with the first X6. Heavily influenced by the Xcoupe concept. X6 originally started as a Coupe before marketing went in depth to ensure that X6 was as practical as customers would like.
The X6 intentionally intended for the US made its success in markets such as Russia,China and the Middle East ahead of the US. It success borne a successor as well as an imminent new model.
But also drawn out the Competition who eventually followed and continue to follow. Also the M badge finally made it to the X5.

The F15 was brought to accommodate two segments. Unfortunately it could never reach that level which is to be finally conceived with the third conception and first production X7.

The new X5 in its fourth cycle returns to the original concept of being more sportier in design and character. Allowing the opportunity for the X7 to exist.

But let's not forget how we got here and one man Wolfgang Reitzle who as the father of the X5 broke the rules in regards to an SUV especially one under the BMW badge.
A philosophy that runs true in the full X portfolio today.
