X5 [Official] BMW X5 (F15)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.

This car looks so stunning. Mineral White is a dream.

Now they decided to offer it with the M Pack. In the U.S. you couldn't get it on the 6 Series with the M Pack. Beautiful color!

Yeah I think Mercedes and Audi forced their hand to offer the M/Sports Package at launch rather than holding it back for months. Thank you MB and Audi!! :-)

Can somebody explain why in the launch photos there is a central locking switch under the hazard warning light, yet in these shots there isn't?

Anywhere I have read this switch has the function to switch on / off all assistent systems all at once. Maybe the X5 above has no one of this assist systems.

Edit: A look into the manual confirmed it.

Saw a white one hurtling down the freeway yesterday. The first time I've seen it in the metal, and my my did it look the business. Properly muscular like an X5 should be and makes the ML look a bit effete.

The new X5 isn´t specially nice, but the ML tends to look like a van most of the times you spot one on the road (mainly because those stupid chrome inserts, and the fugly looking rearlights).

Scoop: BMW X5 Plug-in Hybrid Goes from Concept to Reality

You're looking at a rolling prototype of the BMW Concept X5 eDrive plug-in-hybrid that the Bavarian automaker first showed at the Frankfurt motor show this past September.
At the time, BMW officials would not say if the car was destined for production, but inside sources had hinted that it could go on sale within the next two years with the same powertrain to be used on other models as well, including the 5-Series.

This prototype lacks the concept's specially designed aerodynamic kit and alloy wheels, but does include the plug-in adaptor door on the front fender.

In concept form, BMW had revealed that the X5 eDrive featured an unspecified 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine paired to a 94hp (95PS) electric motor, backed up by a lithium-ion battery mounted under the boot floor that offered a pure electric drive range of 30 kilometers (19 miles) at speeds of up to 120 km/h (75mph).

According to the manufacturer, the X5 eDrive returns an estimated combined fuel consumption of 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers (74.3 mpg UK / 61.9 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 90 g/km, while completing the standard sprint to 100km/h (62mph) in less than 7 seconds.

Again, these are all preliminary numbers for the concept and will likely change when the car enters production.

The X5 eDrive and 2er Active Tourer eDrive will be the first BMW eDrive models.
Think of BMW eDrive to compliment BMWi in the same way BMW M Performance compliments BMW M.

The all new 7er will also feature an eDrive variant but feature some extra innovations such as exclusive aerodynamic packet and CF moulded wheels.
In the opening months of 2014 BMW will begin to drop numbers on how much the 7er has lost in weight. The numbers are highly significant.

Taking a closer look at the button in question, it doesn't seem like it is the Central Looking button (not sure where that is though). rs271's explanation seems to make sense in terms of the function of the button, and why it is not included in the white X5 delivered above.

Very interesting catch though!!

My initial guess was that it might have something to do with the delivery X5 being fitted with the M Packet.

Aren't those the same wheels as on E70 X5 M50d and offered as accessory for X5M ? Wonder if E70 wheels are direct fit on F15?

Great photography also. OT those winter tires with the 'studs' looks to be VERY expensive.

Beautiful combo, stunning actually!
