X3/X4 [Official] BMW X3 (G01)

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.

I gather these are them?

The standard bumper IMO looks better than even the highest end M40i bumper, and also better than the other 'lines'........but the standard non-3D rear lights is a scary thought......I don't think I even want to see those LOL.

BTW, what struck me as unusual: the G01 and G11 (X3 and 7er) both have the metal color coated buttons for the HVAC and radio, while the G30 (5er) has black buttons. I wonder what the reason is behind that, because the 5er is supposed to be further up the chain compared to the X3.

fake edit; I just found out the X3 actually comes with both black and metal buttons, must be a line thing in the end.
But I don't remember seeing the 5er with metal buttons on any line.
I think the buttons are all aluminium and not metal coated

Yeah he doesn't have much imagination lol. These three cars look so very similar...

Don't know what the design directive was, but if he designed all three in short span of time with a similar directive, that may explain the similarities. That said, BMW ought to have heed some of the criticism levied on the 1er's design and modified accordingly.

Saw the car yesterday, spent time with it and all we can say is that it's hard to please everyone. If you expected a revolutionary design, then you haven't been paying attention to BMW lately. The design team works within certain constraints and within a language, and considering that, they have done a great job with the new X3. The oversized grille looks great in person, imposing, not overly done and the rear end, it's simply beautiful. The best part on the car.

The interior---again, it's what you'd expect, considering the latest BMW cars. But if you liked the F25 interior, you will love the G01. Considering who the demographic is - people looking for utility, safety and premium, and lots of female customers - the X3 will be a hit.

Could have been better designed? Who knows...we're not BMW designers nor any industrial designers, so hard to say. Don't forget BMW works within a set of rules, on mainstream cars, so that makes their job even harder.

Expect the new X5 to follow the same rule.

X3 uses the Laser-etched aluminium components from the 7er. There are spy shots of the 5er with the aluminium switchgear and early 5er clinic and presentation models had them.

A shame BMW had to make the nice lights optional. Typical.

Now that LED head lights are standards, they need something new to charge for. "3D" tail lights are basically sculptured tail lights. They are trivial and you can find them on the new Q5 and several Skoda models.

M Sport looks sportier than the M40i.

And you can even spec the M Sport with the same wheels that are standard on the M40i.

It's going to be easy to add £10k of options to these cars.

I agree that BMW has done an excellent job playing playing by their rules on the new x3, even more so than their recent cars.

I was curious, who sets these rules and why does BMW design language develope at such a glacial pace?
