100% will be lighter which is writing in the source...

It will no doubt be lighter but don't hold your breath on anything reasonably substantial. It still has to be able to do the daily thing when needed so not many current components will be omitted

Yes. I do no think they will go the route Alfa Romeo have done with the GTA Modificato.
It would be fun to see an M5 CS
Änderung. Except
Änderung doesn't fit as well as Modificato. It's also why Italian cars can get away with their national flags on the body work. Germans sadly can't.

Hmm, interesting. Considering the extent of the changes to the M Sport front bumper I was expecting a more aggressive front bumper for the M5 as well.

TBH - I don't expect any weight reduction beside a " cosmetic"/on paper one. Why? Because even in the M4CS, where BMW did the most effort (changed center console/arm rest, door panels and switch to simpler AC) the real difference between a M4 CP with the 763 Performance wheels vs the M4 CS was sub 20kg!
M3 CP vs M3 CS was even less!
Can you think of an M5CS with poor mans minimal AC? Or no arm rest in the center?
Switching from aluminium hood to CF hood just saves you about 5kg. Same for the trunk.
If the M5CS goes for really lightweight seats, there could be another 20kg... but race bucket seats in an M5???

On the other hand: Introduction of 48V system and E motor integrated into the ZF8 also adds weight.
So, at the end I don' see any real weight loss! Wait until you see M5CS at the scale in sport auto supertest. Then we know for sure.

This M5 CP looks tantalizing in white with black and carbon trim bits

1st - BMW M5: Stellar return to form for the super-saloon pioneer. Fast, balanced, involving and so multi-talented

2nd - Mercedes-AMG E63 S: Does ‘fast and laid-back’ better than the BMW. Not quite in the same league as a driver’s car

3rd - Cadillac CTS-V: Great-looking Caddy has charisma to burn but is a little short on composure

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
