M3/M4 [Official] BMW M4 GTS

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

I got a big problem with that... if you have highlighted spokes, and they don't frame the air valve (because that's what they're for), then you're a dick.
Get what you’re saying but I don’t find that to be a big deal ...the air valves are still directly oppposite the highlighted spokes making them easily visible. It’s a street car at the end of the day.

Fair enough, I'm just a grumpy bastard today :D ... and that is a pet hate for me. It'd be like stick on bonnet release catches.

It's registered as an AG car for BMW M. As a street test prototype.
Now what is interesting is that the larger side intake and the rear spoiler almost like a duck tail not the huge wing sitting on top were part of the Aerodynamic pieces I saw which could easily have been dismissed for Motorsport purposes.

When I was at M for the M2 Competition, M5 and X3M preview earlier this year there were contributions to the fact of a grand finale for the M4.
This was when Frank Van Meel M CEO went public on how M will develop on each level.
There was an announcement regarding using the designation CSL which has not been used in a decade.
The M3CSL was and remains a phenomenal car so there is potential that surely they want to capitalise on a modern equivalent.

They talked of M4 features Most of them were very smooth for Aerodynamic purposes rather than being over sculpted. The front aero vertical air curtain exposed but the space of the intake was closed off designed to allow the airflow into the curtain.

I am willing to bet they are planning the final outing for the M4.
Now M4 is already pretty radical what with GTS and CS bonnet, hood and trunk fabricated from CFRP which is basically the entire top section of the car. So we can only speculate where weight can be reduced over existing CS and GTS.

By optimising and smoothing off aerodynamics as well as other areas show at least CS, GTS and hypothetically CSL offer further visual progression.

It's not going to happen Scott, we all know it. The M4 is about to go and there is nobody who is going to pay 250k for what basically is a first generation 4er, which is about to be overclassed in every possible way by the new 3er.

They're probably testing something, maybe for the new M3.

F82 M4 EOP in 2020. When the new 4er is launched.
Logistically, if you look at it there is time.
And yes Klier the new 4er does not have the existing 4er bonnet line. It reminds me of the snout of a Shark.

Yeah good riddance. I saw the perfect cutline (or really lack thereof) on the new 3er, and I expect something similar for the 4er. Unless the front will be radically different from the 3er, and some renders seem to suggest that.... So we'll see :D

And I agree there is still time but really what could they do beyond the GTS? Not much.

Agree CS and GTS are pretty radical as they are. So it's a guessing game how they can improve.

Part-Electrification? ....Realistically no?
Visually there is certainly some alternative aerodynamics that could be implemented.
Stripped out interior?
Lightweight glass?

Shot Fired: M4 Photo Sends BMW And Audi Into Twitter Feud
Do those flaming circles behind the M4 remind you of anything? Audi saw something.
The people who control the Twitter accounts at BMW USA and Audi are engaging in a war of words over a photo of an M4 with an explosion of sparks in the background. The pattern just happens to look like the rings in Audi's logo.
We can see where Audi is coming from because the flaming circles do evoke the company's insignia, although there are far more than the four rings in the automaker's logo. BMW didn't ignore the gentle mocking by posting a more pointed message of its own.
Audi didn't bother to respond to BMW's reply, which ended the back and forth between the automakers. However, this isn't the first time for the companies to engage in good-hearted mockery, although it generally happens on dealer billboards rather than social media. For example, a showroom in Tunisia installed a sign in front of a local Audi factory in 2018 that said, "It’s never too late to change your mind." The Four Rings responded with a sign showing "LOOOL. We do not change a brand that wins."
In 2009, there was even more visible competition between the brands. An advertising agency erected a giant billboard on Los Angeles' famous Santa Monica Boulevard that showed a new Audi A4 with the message, "Your move, BMW." Bimmer responded with a similarly sized sign on the other side of the road showing and M3 and the single word "Checkmate."

While not quite as humorous, BMW took advantage of open advertising space in China by erecting a huge billboard touting its model's efficiency on a building that just so happened to house an Audi dealer. Customers weren't able to miss the giant image of a 5 Series when walking into the showroom to potentially shop for a new A6.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
