3 Series (F30) [Official] BMW F30 3-Series LCI [2015-2019]

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the F30 (sedan version), F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring'), and F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F35) was sold in China. For this generation, the coupé and convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series nameplate. It was succeeded by the G20 3 Series, and the G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: October 2011 – October 2018
So did they change the engine to B47 on 320d? german site still shows old engines with 184hp, i think the new ones should have 190hp from the rumors .....

It's the new B47 - 140 kW, 400 Nm.

And @Betty Swollocks - I don't recall seeing the 140kW B47 diesel engine make its way into the Pre-LCI F30.

Sorry, my mistake. I was updating my spreadsheets three nights ago (I maintain a full set of data for all Audi, BMW, M-B and Porsche vehicles), and I remember the x20d getting the 190hp B47 in January, and I even read the press release the other night.

Unfortunately that was for the 4 Series.

It confused me because I thought it was strange that the 4 Series was getting the B47 before the 3 Series, yet the 3 Series is further ahead in its life cycle.

Here is the press release from January.

Anyway, I think it's strange that the 325d still has the 218hp twin-turbo when the 1er LCI got the 224hp version.

This is nonsense.

It's a post made by a BMW marketing/PR bod/bods. Surely everything has to be taken with a pinch of salt?

What I would love to find out is, if an offer that couldn't be refused to work for Audi or M-B resulted in exactly the same posts being made on those forums? I suspect that all of a sudden they would be automotive perfection.

It´s amazing what some nice graphics can do. If I were a 4er/M4 owner I would fly to my dealer to order one of the new LED rearlights once they are available for the 4er.

Fingers crossed BMW does not go back to halogens for the next 3er.

Did they make changes to the 8 speed auto? Or is exactly same as before? Not that I am complaining it was and still is the best auto money can buy, excellent gearbox. I remember it been hugely more responsive and smoother than the 7G-tronic box in the older W204 c-class I drove before

Not that it matters much but are the rear indicators also led?
Front indicators on full led are they in the brow or on the outer side as on the 4er and f20 LCI?

An user at motortalk.de wrote the rear indicators are LED too.
Former postings of him gave me the impression that he is working for BMW because he was well informed. So I think it's correct what he has written. :)

This is nonsense. As good as it is, the F30 Pre LCI is still far from perfect!

No car is perfect. I am very disappointed to note that BMW did nothing about improving the quality of the transmission tunnel consol plastics on the LCI. Opportunity lost.

Oh and no one asked me about what changes I'd like to see in the F30 LCI - lemme guess - only certain customers got asked what they'd like improved in their 3er...

The Transmission tunnel plastics are now softer to the touch.

Whatever the case, the pre-LCI interior was really cheap. My 5 year old Jetta has better interior quality and we all know that is a budget car. Very appalling. More importantly my 14 X5 has some places where the quality is despicable for a premium SUV. Very disappointing!

Really? I have an X5 M sitting outside at the moment. Tell me where these poor quality pieces are so I can go and check them out.
Because I do not see anything poor about the X5s quality.

Promise? Because that will impress me quite a bit. It's one of my (small) gripes with the Pre-LCI interior. I suspect that the mono-panel instrument surround on the centre consol will not only impart a sturdier fit but also serves better for the backlit ambient lighting.

I'll say this - barring the lack of fit tightness in the dashboard trim pieces and the questionable transmission tunnel plastics, the Pre-LCI interior is solid, hard-wearing and robust. I like it far more than its competitors interiors because it feels like a proper quality BMW interior. I'm so not a fan of Merc's overrated W205 interior and the B8 A4's dashboard was blindly mispraised.

From a certain perspective, I can understand your point. For instance, the opener of the glove box is a pity for a car like the X5. But, as I said in another post, 'tactile' quality is a highly subjective issue and no good indicator for structural quality. Most regular customers (not petrol heads like us) do not care as much about those plastics and, more importantly, do not wanna pay for a better solution.
Even though they may not look like it, the BMW dashboards are, on average, the most expensive ones as compared to Audi and Mercedes (for those who are interested: most premium dashs come from Dräxlmaier). Prices are not only determined by visible (or touchable) factors but by the internal structure, requirements for cooling technique, reserved building space for HUDs, etc.

BMW do mention a "new" engine in this article but sadly no figured regarding hp or model :/

I just want some confirmation that the new 320d has B47 and not the N47. Does anyone find any article on this topic? pretty please can you share it :)

I want to order this car so i hope it can be possible soon, the bmw homepage still configures the old model it seems.

In the press release it says the auto gearbox has been updated, whatever that means.

"The updated 8-speed Steptronic transmission features enhanced efficiency, wider gear ratio and reduced torque converter slip during gear shifts. At the same time, improved damping of engine irregularities make for improved comfort and smoother shifting. Sporty drivers will also enjoy the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. In Sport+ transmission mode, it allows the driver to rev the engine right up to the rev limiter, and also to perform multiple sequential downshifts. The 8-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters is now standard on 328i, 328d and 340i models.

Further economy benefits are offered by the 8-speed Steptronic transmission’s coasting mode in ECO PRO. When the driver lifts off the throttle at higher speeds, for example on a gentle downhill grade on the highway, the engine is automatically decoupled from the transmission. It then simply idles, which saves fuel and ensures there is no unwanted engine braking at high speed."

Pretty impressive functions the box now has especially the coasting mode.

It has the B47 without a doubt.

"All the three-, four- and six-cylinder petrol engines for the BMW 3 Series model range and the four-cylinder diesel units in the BMW 316d, BMW 318d and BMW 320d are now sourced from the newly developed, modular BMW EfficientDynamics engine family."
