BMW has revealed the 328 Hommage concept just before its show debut at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este near Lake Como, Italy this weekend. Based on the Vision Connected Drive Concept revealed in Geneva, the 328 Hommage is a modern interpretation of the classic sportscar from the 1930s.

There's something about exotics that just don't interest me that much. For example, a design like this: Instantly alluring, however I already find it a "been there, done that" for me, and have no interest in looking at it again. On the flip side, I can go look at an F10 or F01 Thread and still enjoy looking at photo's, finding new things about the designs, etc. I guess I'm just a conservative freak when it comes to cars.

I would love to see some of the classical elements of this car make it onto BMW's current design idiom. Would strike a great balance.

One of the best-looking concepts ever. If BMW can but this retro-modern look mainstream within the coming years, it will be hell for Mercedes and Audi. :D

What type of engine does this concept have? I know it hasn't been announced or even mentioned, since it is a concept, but I was wondering. When BMW makes a concept, such as this one, are the engines handcrafted or do they just go and pick up an inline 6 or v8 they have somewhere and implant it into the car?

It's the I6 3.0 turbo, will do wonders in car weighing 870 kg!

I agree. If BMW could pull this look off, it could be a big game changer, at least in the short term. For one, they'd bring back guys like me, who flocked away from the brand once the Bangle era came out.

This "Beaver" front, if incorporated right onto traditional models, could look epic on the roads.

Speaking of Beaver fronts, Mercedes has these kind of vertical grilles in it's historic cars too. They could bring it back as well, MB and BMW can start a new trend here!

They should. I love wide faces and all for the presence they have, etc., but now that everyone is doing that, it would be a cool contrast and flip for M-B and BMW to now re-introduce their vertical grills on maybe limited models (or a limited model). Kind of like how the Jag S-Type tried, but much better than that.

Funny you mention the S type, never really thought of that grille as a vertical one
