A1/S1 [Official] Audi S1 Quattro

The Audi A1 is a luxury supermini car launched by Audi at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the initial three-door A1 model started in Germany in August 2010, with the United Kingdom following in November 2010.
Its the same engine then. I spotted a Polo WRC the other day, cool looking car but the VW need a new Polo. The current one is getting dated. I've never been a fan of A1 but wouldnt mind test drive a S1.

Now why would you say that, the current Polo has just been given a fairly substantial facelift and dates from 2009, the 6th gen Fiesta, dates from 2008 and Ford haven't facelifted it to date. The Fiesta is a fun car to drive, especially an ST Mountune, but the interior is rubbish, the Polo is an althgether nicer place to sit, the A1 is another step beyond that.

Intersting the S1 heralds the styling changes for the A1, it's not a biggie and not anywhere near what VW has done with the Polo, I am surprised that they haven't updated the trip computer it's still black and white, VW has had a nice colour option for a while now.

Feels like its been around for ages and regarding Fiesta, there been facelifted (2014), I have one. Interior wise, Fiesta got good interior quality (better than last generation 1-series) for what you pay for and I'm not prepared to pay a lot extra cash just to get a nicer interior. I rather pay for fun. No, Polo is over and I'll happily await for a new generation Polo.

Now lets stay away from Ford, this is a Audi thread.

I don't see how you can lump the M135i in with other hot hatches, it's a completely different bread and attracts a different kind of buyer, the A45 AMG is also in another league price wise so doesn't compete either. It's competition will arrive when Audi builds an RS3.

Why not?

Yes, both the A45 and the M135i are of a different character than, let's say, the Fiesta ST, the Clio RS, or a F500 Abarth. But they are still two hatchbacks, the same size of the Golf, they are the top-of-the-line version of the model and also both are very entertaining to drive. Isn't that the point of a hot-hatch?

Simple PRICE and HP. The person who is going to buy an A45 or M135i (RS3 when it arrives) isn't going to look at anything else, they compete in a different market, they are the sensible choice for the guy who really wants a Cayenne but has kids and needs space. I'd consider them as posh versions of the EVO or STI long before I'd think of them as hot hatches.

I also think the A45 and M135i aren't as much fun to drive as simple cheap ones like the Fiesta ST or Clio RS, they are so much faster, so much more capible they they have taken the fun out of driving.

A little sidenote. I know at least two people trading their M135i for the new Fiesta ST. Reason, they think the M135i too fast for public roads, they simply didnt need all the power but they still wanted a fun and quick car so a ST were their substitute. :)

Smart move. Walking is the safest option though.

Sounds like some really dimwitted buyers. Didn't they test drive the BMW first? Are they getting change back from the Ford dealer at least?

the Polo is an altogether nicer place to sit, the A1 is another step beyond that.

That's funny, because when I said the following about the interior of the A1 compared with the Polo on 18th December 2013:

Just because a Polo and an A1 share certain aspects, they're still different. The interiors are different.

look at the position of the air vents on the dash, the A3 and A1 are just Golf and Polo in fancy dress, I guess your image needs a boost so you spend more and get the same, you'll never convince me otherwise.

And you ALSO said the following:

You own an A1, isn't that about image when you could own a Polo or Fabia, which are essentially the same thing.

It's funny how you've changed your tune now you've bought one.

^This man..he never forgets anything.. i will be in safe hands when i fly across his AOR.. you must have the air traffic locked down like a vault!

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
