Audi R8 Spyder V10 2010-2014 Review (2018) | Autocar

Yesterday I had a really nice dynamic drive with this R8 V10 spyder. It was 2011 model with R-tronic and equipped with Akrapovič exhaust. Looks really good in the flesh. I was really impressed with the car. Ok R-tronic is not the newest gearbox, but was OK, especially was great on downshifts. I drove it quite fast on twisty roads and handling, steering and brakes(carbon ceramics)were really good. Only on couple twisty cornes when I immediatly turned from left to right you could feel that the car is not so light(1720kg I checked). But two things really impressed me. Last year I drove Huracan and now this, and I have to say this V10 engine is phenomenal! To get out the best of it you have to rev it hard but boy beyond 5000, especially between 6000-8500 is pure magic, and this one also had Akrapovič exhaust, what a sound! I know that coupe version is probably the more driver focused machine, but guys I went on a great drive to country side on twisty roads which I know really well, with the roof down, revving it hard and being accompanied with terrific Akrapovič exhaust sound did change my mind. Spyder is the one! If I was in the market now for R8, Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari 488, or Mclaren I would choose spyder versions. Forget about tests were they say coupe is 1 second faster per lap, bla bla bla, when you drive it on country side and put the roof down you will be sold in a heartbeat and you will forget about slower laptime and 0,5 seconds slower to 200!

Certainly, leaving out the "limited".
I do not remember if the SL "Gullwing" or any other of that time were of normal production
