A3/S3/RS3 [Official] Audi A3 / A3 Sedan Facelift

The Audi A3 is a small family car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Audi AG since September 1996. The first two generations of the Audi A3 were based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, while the third and fourth generations use the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.

The facelifted rearlights of the 1er are a disaster :(

So big and bulky and not elegant. The part that's on the actual boot is just too much for my taste.

Ah, premium is the keyword.

Funny for a brand that's built on VWs, and a car which is a rebadged Golf.

But it's not a "rebadged Golf" though is it? I never understand this statement. The A3 is very, very different to a Golf.

"Rebadging" is what happens with the Up, Citigo and Mii.

Isn't it a Golf with different interior/exterior? Or doesn't it count when it's visually less obvious?

I think it's obvious to not take that literally, because we can all see the Golf and A3 are not the same looking. Below the skin they are siamese twins though.

Interesting. So the 'LED Matrix headlights' aren't new to the segment, even though the press release wants us to believe just that...

Just what I thought, the Astra has been advertised with massage seats and led matrix headlights on the Telly for a couple of months.

So which VWs are the A4, A6, A7, A8 and R8 rebadged versions of?

The A3 doesn't look anything like a Golf, and it's still a better car than the A Class and those nasty things BMW has built to compete in this segment.

No it's not obvious. A rebadge means just that. The same car with a different badge on it, as in the VW, Skoda and Seat version of the Up. To call the A3 a rebadged Golf is simply wrong, on every level.

No need to go off topic, I was talking about the A3, which is a different looking Golf. And thus totally and utterly NOT premium.

It's very obvious. Just not for you.

And with this I am completely done with this thread.

I would say the Golf is also premium, its interior build quality is a very close match to the A3, although most people would probably argue in saying the Premium is in the badge, VW is a peoples car while Audi is supposed to be a premium branded product.

The A3 and the Golf don't look anything alike, I suggest you buy some classes.

This is a handsome boy and very desirable.

Agree the 1 series LCI tail lights are not great, can see what they were trying to get at but in real life it just looks weird as f. Looks clumsy and character-less.

If i'm a buyer, if the 1series was not RWD I wouldn't even think another second and choose the A3.

Agree. The bimmers best attribute is RwD. I love the A3 is more handsome and the interior is much nicer. But can't choose

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
