Valkyrie [Official] Aston Martin - From AM-RB 001 to Valkyrie

I actually find the 1:56.42 lap time at Silverstone - the perfect track for a car like the Valkyrie (with long straights for power and high-speed corners to exploit its downforce) and a track where Aston tested the Valkyrie for years - to be quite disappointing.
This is nothing new clearly, but the car is underperforming big time compared not only to (crazy) early promises, but IMHO also compared to its announced final specs.

But after all, what to expect when you design a theoretically extreme ground effect car and then you don't even consider about developing bespoke tyres for it, which could properly handle its aerodynamics and mechanical loads.

As previously stated, a best lap time time of 1:56.48 from GT3 race cars in qualifying is demonstrating how slow the Valkyrie actually is in terms of performance in the corners, which instead should have been its biggest selling point.

Yep. The aero should be showing there's levels to this game. Instead it managed just 2 kph more in Copse than a fast 911.

All these mega complicated halo cars seem to do is overcompensate with straight line performance. That's why I'm so hyped about Bohema and its 700 bhp. Dragsters have had their fun, now it's time to return to tradition - simplify, then add lightness. (inb4 it's still slower than GT3, lol)

Those vibrations and sound are insane. Didn't know there was an extra door handle for the roof section. Definitely my favorite hypercar of the last couple of years, that spider version.

Neither did Daniel Abt. He still managed to squeeze in anyway 😁

The Spider version is definitely the one to go for when it comes to road driving, as it's actually less loud inside and it's easier to get in and out. Or at least would be, if it wasn't for the fact that there is no place to stash the roof, so you either come with it on (in which case it's just a worse coupe), or you come without it, but now have to be 100% certain it's not gonna rain and you can't leave it parked anywhere outside.

There is no way to rationalise the Valkyrie as a car. From getting in/out, "seats" and fixed headsets, it's a road legal LMP1 car. Kudos to aston for including satnav and Bluetooth playback via the headsets. Like an Ariel Atom, you have to be in the mood to drive one.

Not a big deal if you own 10 cars and will only do 200 miles per year in the Valkyrie.
