The Aston Martin Valkyrie (also known by its code-names as AM-RB 001 and Nebula) is a limited production hybrid sports car collaboratively built by Aston Martin, Red Bull Racing Advanced Technologies, and several other parties. Production: November 2021 – December 2024.

It was done by one of the AM test drivers during an event where they were giving rides to customers/press. So again, as with the Bahrain laps, probably not representative of the ultimate pace of the car - although at the same time massively slower (9s) than LMP2 (from 2008).

Yeah, might be worth noting LMP2's were basically as quick as LMP1's by that stage. Fastest race lap for the Audi R10 TDI LMP1 was 1:12.126, Acura LMP2 was two hundredths off with 1:12.147. The GT1 era GT cars were doing 1:19's at the same race.

LMP2 at Laguna last year... 1:16.371... top class DPi's 1:16.023

I don't think 1:19 would be that bad, but if I've said it once, I've said it 20 times... if you want to go fast around a track, buy a race car!

Exactly! The more so as those hypercars provide zero creature comfort, so driving in normal traffic/taking passengers with you is just a PITA ... and a GT3 car without BOP restrictions is easy as fast with 1/4 the price ...

Do you have an idea how much it costs to buy a new GT3 race car for private use? I suppose 600-700 k Euro but it could be less maybe.

M4 GT3 is €415k +Taxes

 
I remember the M6 GT3 was 600 k Euro in Germany (there was a video in which the race driver crashed it and the team manager said:"600 k Euro in the bin"). So maybe the M4 GT3 is a lot cheaper then the M6 GT3.

Base price of the M6 and Z4 GT3's were €379,000 and €350,000 respectively.

A figure of 600k is either a pissed off team boss making a point, or an Evo spec car where the Evo upgrade package is about the same as the car. (edit: Evo pack for Z4 GT3 was €315k)

edit 2: Rowe racing sold one of their N24 & DTM M6 GT3's for €240,000 last year, including spares. AAI were selling their Blancpain Asia M6's for €215,000.
 
1:19 min is not bad at all for an unofficial test

Less than that actually.
There were 2 AMR Pro at Laguna Seca: the factory AM prototype (green one) and the private blue one, which is owned by the Heart of Racing race team.

It seems that they lapped more or less in the range of 1:18 to 1:25 lap times, but none of those runs was close to be a timed lap.
The cars:

- were going with restricted power output to 800 hp
- were doing demo (not time attack) laps with passengers on board
- did not undergo a specific setup for the track

Apparently, according to AM and owner sources, the car with:

- Fresh qualy slick tyres
- Full 1000 hp engine output
- Proper chassis/suspensions setup for the track

could achieve a sub 1:10 optimal time attack lap time.

While I fundamentally agree with your statement, it has to be said that the AMR Pro is far more "race car" than most race cars themselves:

- LMP1-grade slicks
- Carbon-carbon brakes
- Far more downforce than current DPi and LMP2 prototypes
- Unrestricted NA V12 with 1000 bhp

No GT3 race car (unrestricted or not) is ever going to be close to the AMR Pro.
People make the mistake to associate this car to track toys such as FXX-K or P1 GTR (which are quite slower, on average, than full-spec GT3 cars), but they cannot be more different as the Valkyrie AMR Pro is a full-spec LMP prototype underneath while the others are just souped-up versions of their road cars siblings with slick tyres (but not LMP-grade slicks).
 
I think it's safe to say the road-car, in full attack mode, when fully working would probably do it in around 1:17 to 1:20 range on Cup 2 R tires that it comes with.

Assuming AMR Pro is 7-10 sec quicker.
We know know that in sporty mode it can do 1:19 without even trying very hard.
 
Your gap assumption may be quite right.
At Silverstone, the AMR Pro was rumored to be 12+ seconds per lap faster than the regular Valkyrie.

Yeah, I can't disagree with that. It's more the cost discrepancy that bugs me about it.
