G-Class [Official] "6x6 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG V8 Biturbo"

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

Dan Bilzerian Buys a Brabus G63 AMG 6X6

With the kind of appeal the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 has, a guy like Dan Bilzerian just couldn’t miss the oportunity to offer shelter to one in his garage. Bilzerian, who is just as much a libertine player as he is a poker player, likes his cars customized, so he turned to Brabus for this one.

Bilzerian recently posted the photo above on his Facebook account, letting the world know what his next ride will be. The Brabus B63S-700 6x6, to use its actual name, has been put together at the Brabus headquarters in Bottrop, Germany and now it is ready to make a journey across the ocean.

“Brabus sent me this pic of my finally finished, custom 6x6 & now they're shipping it to the US,” Bilzerian said.

You’re probably wondering how much the behemoth weighs... on the financial scale. For instance, the unit that marked the debut of the model at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show comes with a price of EUR 573.854,89, including VAT in Germany (19 percent). As for the export price, this sits at EUR 482.231 (US$ 658,800 at the current exchange rates).

Mind you, as with any creation of this kind, each unit may have a different price, according to what the owner decided to have it gifted with.

Well, the Brabus B63S-700 6x6 actually offers very good value for money, if we compare it to the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 on which it is based. That’s because the latter is offered for EUR 451,010 in Germany, with VAT included. In dollars, that's 616,050.

Perhaps Bilzerian was willing to fill out the empty 700 hp slot in his car collection - this used to be occupied by his 700 horses Aventador, but that received a tuning job that boosted its output. Or maybe he wants to see how many of his female friends can fit inside this thing. While shooting guns.

Carlsson tunes the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 to 650 PS
Model also has a bespoke interior
Carlsson has unveiled their new tuning program for the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6.

While the exterior remains unchanged, customers can order a bespoke cabin with leather and Alcantara upholstery as well as wood or carbon fiber trim. The model can also be equipped with alloy pedals, illuminated door sill plates, aluminum door-lock pins and suede or sheepskin floor mats.

Bigger changes occur under the hood as the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine has been equipped with a CK63 performance kit which includes an optimized ECU. This enables the engine to produce 650 PS (478 kW) and 900 Nm of torque - an increase of 106 PS (78 kW) and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft).

For the price there should have been 4-wheel steering as well.

Ironicly, serious off-roaders always prefer shorter wheelbase to longer ones. It is really easy to get stuck in a longer whether sand, gravel, water-crossings or rock crawling.

This car is stupid.

Yes, it was a pretty popular small series, with more than hundred produced. AMG may instead offer the G 63 AMG 4x4 Green Monster spied recently. :)

Green Monster! Remember the Green Monster? You know, that jacked-up G-Wagen painted in a very loud green color riding around on portal axles? The same portal axles found under the ridiculous 6x6 AMG? I asked Tobias if he knew about the beast, and he said, “Yes! I saw one in my parking lot.” I then asked if it was happening as a production G-Wagen. “It wouldn’t be in my parking lot if it wasn’t happening.” Is it coming to the U.S.? “No.” Is the 6x6 coming to the U.S.? “No.” Seems like the complete and total failure of the Unimog to excite American buyers has AMG thinking that Americans hate portal axles. Shame. That said, a non-Tobias source explained that the G-Wagen is safe through 2030. This makes sense, as AMG sold more than 3,000 G63s in 2014. That said, big changes are coming to the G within a few years.

Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×4² first image release
Heading to Geneva

Mercedes-Benz has released the first image depicting the G500 4×4².

The off-roader was spied testing for the first time back in November in the G63 specification and shortly after that Mercedes-Benz confirmed the model. Now, the first official revealing image with the G500 model has been published and as you would expect it's basically a four-wheel version of its six-wheeled sibling. As a consequence, it gets a considerably increased ground clearance, larger 22-inch wheels with 325/55 off-road tires and a slightly modified body with carbon fiber attachments.

Power comes from a V8 engine developing 422 HP (310 kW) whereas the V8 5.5-liter engine in the regular G500 has 387 HP (285 kW). It should be mentioned the 6x6 variant is available exclusively in the G63 AMG guise.

Mercedes-Benz will release additional details in the days to come, with a public debut likely set for the Geneva Motor Show early next month. At the moment they are referring to the G500 4×4² as a show car but it will most likely hit the assembly line later this year.
