CLS [Official] 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.
So there are ppl who hate the lines on the side of this CLS.. cause they run into nowhere as they claim..
Just wanna ask you folks what you think about this car..as it obviously does the same

Those are really incomparable. The design of the upward line, execution, purpose, proportions, etc. are all different.

I know what M-B is going for with the reverse wedge look: The very rich, and luxurious classic Rolls Royce style stance, with the high front, and from there, everything sliding downward. It's a great and very rich silhouette.

However, it makes NO sense on a "Coupe", where it should have aggressive, "coming at you" lines from the front, not a "falling back" look, as it doesn't coincide and work harmoniously with the character of a Coupe shape.

On top of that, M-B proved with the W221, and even more-so with the W212, that you can combine the two, which makes for a very dynamic, multi-personality look. From the front, you see the car slanting down, "coming at you", then at starts to bend at the rear portion, with the greenhouse, and rear portion, and lines all falling back. Looks outstanding, and kind of gives off the best of both worlds.... Or I guess could look confused as well, lol.

That said, I'm happy with the lines now. Even if I never come around to them, A for effort by M-B. We already have a SUPER wedge shape with the W212, so why am I complaining for more? They're being creative, and mixing it up. Maybe it won't speak to me, but makes it fun to look at, and makes for an interesting time to be an M-B fan and design critic. :t-cheers: :usa7uh:

^well i would say a car like the Italia and Z4 should have more of that Coming at you design..than leaned back.. but it works as you see.
And it works wonders on the CLS..

Imo the lines are not an issue.. they are probably the main reason the car looks this good;)

I disagree with that personally.

I think the car *to me* looks great due to the hard and tight sheet-metal, the overall silhouette, the sculpted surfacing, etc. But if I could have my own "perfect CLS", I'd tweak the angle of those lines to something more my ultimate tastes. But again, I've realized, those lines will certainly keep things "interesting" (for better and worse, of course, as these things go) for the CLS, and the M-B lineup as a whole.

I gotta say, I've never been the hugest CLS fan (love/hate it, but there's certainly more love), but I came across this picture, and take is as you will, but I was shocked at how, after viewing the new one for such an extended period of time via photo's, I found this to (not only) look anything but dated, but my eyes instantly found it perhaps more pleasing than *some* of the new CLS's pics. Certainly not all, as those "just right" pics of the new CLS really are pretty jaw-dropping, but some. ;)

[ the Active Parking Assist (€868.70). The CLS can not only detect parking spaces, but can also actually park the vehicle for you.

THE CAR PARKS ITSELF? Lets hope it can unlike the LS that says it can

If it can do it as well as the B-Class's parking assistant which I had used a few times, then it will do it's job quite fine. So, I ordered the CLS including the active parking option.
Which LS do you refer to? Lexus? What happened?

Not to make a fanboy-fight here, but here are the two vehicles together:

(Haven't seen the pictures anywhere else on the forum yet)

I prefer the CLS, much prettier and classy. Put on 4 pipes, two @ each side.. monstercar. But the Gran Coupe is lovely as well!

I am reserving judgement until I see it in reality on Thursday.
It might just be the pictures but some angles it looks really good whilst in others it looks as if it has been in a substantial side impact which has squeezed in the side section of the car.

Apparently the old SCOTT is back. Too bad, it was a nice change while it lasted. The 5GT is a much better execution, no doubt about it SCOTT27.:t-crazy2:

No go back to the BMW area and play nice.:D

Actually, interesting you say that.

My friend pointed out to me that from the 3/4 rear angle, if you look at the bottom point of the rear wheel arch, where it meets the door, it can look like there was an impact there, on the W212. Albeit an incredibly clean and precise impact.

Excuse me but what are you doing?
He was only talking about CLS, not BMW which you mention. His post was fine.

I was expressing an opinion that in some photographs the car looks good , whilst in some due to the shadows and light enhancement show if the car has been in a side impact.

I see it for the first time tomorrow (or maybe this afternoon?)

For The Record - The 5er GT is not a CLS Rival , I have no idea why people decide the GT is a rival to the CLS , A7 and Panamera.

I saw a 5'er GT on the road the other day (extremely rare sighting, I think I've only seen two), and it indeed IS NOT a CLS rival. It looks like an SUV on the road to be honest. Huge and bulky.
