I talked about this sheet metall work and all the sculpting with my cousin, who is a engineer for doors at Volvo, he says that its such hard work..and expensive as hell..
The volvo guys wish they had free hands like this to make what want..
But company restricts them..to stay in budget..

It must be insanely expensive. When you really get up close to it, you notice how extensive it really is, phenomenal really. Very complex. I think right now, nobody touches M-B on sculpted sheet-metal, and that epic/"hard light"/complex shadow-play, and this includes brands like RR/Bentley, etc.

This is nothing new though really, even when M-B designs were more simple, (at least starting with the W220, and better yet: W211), there was a careful leanness and crispness that allowed them to play with shadow very well. The 211 can be mistaken for a "generic" design by some, until it gets under the right light, and you see how subtleties go such a long way.

So it looks like the V8 really is detuned in the CLS. The above states 408hp for Europe with will translate to (sae) 400hp for the U.S. market. Interesting.

It´s true, and it says 5.5. I´ve no idea of what this is all about. The FL CL500 already features the new engine. A typo?.

Just marketing I guess. Since its a turbo engine they can play with the outputs so easily so I guess they figure why not detune the CLS to give the CL a superior advantage. All marketing dribble...lol.

It´s not the turbo engine we all know, because that engine is 4.6 and in the press release says clearly 5.5, like the old V8.

Where did you see that, I saw 4.6. If they said 5.5 then that is a typo.

THE CAR PARKS ITSELF? Lets hope it can unlike the LS that says it can

I'm sure it will. Mercedes these days actually seems more concerned with getting their technology right and reliable than being first to market.

Guys, I´ve been told the new CLS 63 AMG is basically the same as the CL63 AMG, so it would be easy to make a PS from a CLS with AMG kit and chane the bumper to the CL63 AMG one to see the CLS63.

PD: The bar in the the grill is not as far as in the AMG pack.
