Am I the only not surprised by the weight gain? :t-hands:

It's not the first time, for instance - the E60 M5 weighs 110kg more than the E39 M5. (1720kg vs 1830kg)

I see it now. That was a partially empty weight figure for the E39 M5. fully loaded it weighs a recorded 1833kg.

compared to what? weight for M3 E46, RS4?

1655kg is with a driver included

"Empty" weight by DIN standard:

E46 M3: 1495kg, 343PS (4.36kg/PS)
E92 M3: 1580kg, 420PS (3.76kg/PS)
Audi RS4: 1650kg, 420PS (3.93kg/PS) ... sedan!!!
CLK63 AMG: 1680kg, 481PS (3.49kg/PS)

E90 vs E92 ... E90 is 10kg lighter than comparable E92 (eg. 335i sedan vs 335i coupe).

E46 M3: 1495kg, 343PS (4.36kg/PS)

Damn. I never knew the E46 M3 is that light.

I was expecting this car to be really light, but that doesn't seem to be the case!

Wonder what else BMW can do in the future, will they go down the aluminium route, like Jaguar, and that have experience with RR!

there is already a lot of that going on: the roof is CF, the hood Alu, the structure Alu, the bumpers plastic, ...

there will be a lighter M3 CSL in the future. the new standard M3 seem to weight lower than the competition and thats a good sign.

That doesn't sound so expensive, it's about £45,000 which is about £5,000 more than the E46 M3!

Although I'm sure we'll have to pay more as always!

There are 4 different chairs to choose between. I wonder how these seats look like :eusa_thin

How much does RS4 and S5 cost in Germany?

S4: €55,600 (incl. 19% VAT) - 6-gang manual
RS4: €71,700 (incl 19% VAT) - 6-gang manual
S5: €55,900 (incl. 19% VAT) - 6-gang manual

So ... RS5 will cost around 72k Euro, while E90 M3 sedan will be less than 66k.

Did a few comparisons... didn't think it was worth putting it in the picture thread because these aren't even real. All have 19" wheels:

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
