Spotted: 2007-2008 Nissan Altima coupe

Images surfaced online Saturday of what appears to be a Nissan Altima coupe. The photos were taken outside the California Bear Credit Union in downtown Los Angeles on Friday. It's not clear what the vehicle was doing in LA, but the presence of a large crew suggests a photo shoot may have been underway.

Published rumors about an Altima coupe have been somewhat nonexistent this year, but there have been some rumblings about the possibility. The coupe shown has a close resemblance to the Nissan 350Z an the Infiniti G35 coupe. It also takes some inspiration from the Nissan Azeal concept — especially in the shape of the C-pillar. The front fascia appears nearly identical to the recently-unveiled 2007 Nissan Altima sedan.

Exactly my thoughts.

I still dont understand why brands like Acura/Honda, Infiniti/Nissan, and Lexus/Toyota have to build pretty much the exact same cars just with different badges and slightly different styling.

What's not to understand? By re-badging cars they get 2 vehicles out of one. Lexus, Infiniti and Acura would be difficult business propositions if their parent companies weren't able to repurpose car development.

The trick, of course, is to at least appear like you have created different vehicles. This new Nissan coupe looks extremely Infiniti-like, but on its own merit, looks pretty good. The "Mustang Style" C-pillar is very interesting.

The Altima and the G35 have nothing in common. As far as I know, the only Nissan that shares a platform with an Infiniti is the 350Z, which is fine. Even the V6 engine, although the same architeture is quite variant between what Infiniti and Nissan get (except 350Z again).

Sorry Martin, i did not write my sentance properly, i didn't mean the G35 and the Altima are the same :eusa_doh: I meant it looks like they are trying to create a G35 look-a-like with FWD :usa7uh:

LA Show: 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe

Nissan just came out with the first official pics of its “poor-mans” Infinit G35 Coupe, the 2007 Altima Coupe. Though it shares much with the latest Altima Sedan, judging from the photos, the Coupe’s smaller dimensions and unique styling elements help create a sporty profile.

Dimensionally, the Altima Coupe rides on a 105.3-inch wheelbase, 4.0 inches shorter than the Sedan. Overall length is 182.5 inches – 7.1 inches less than the Sedan. The Coupe also has a lower profile – at 55.3 inches it is 2.5 inches shorter than the Sedan. In terms of major body panels, the two cars share only a common hood, with all other panels, grille, headlights and rear combination lights unique to the Altima Coupe.

The front-wheel-drive Altima Coupe is offered with a choice of two engines and two transmissions. A 3.5-liter V6 which is rated at 270 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and a smaller, 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder, producing 175 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Both are available with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) or 6-speed manual transmissions. The 2008 Altima Coupe will go on sale next summer.

What's up with the zebra style camo? :t-rot:

Saw the car on Carspin yesterday. Needless to say it looks like a mini Infiniti G35, except porkier and not so pretty.
