GL-Class (X166) Next Generation GL-Class (Spy Pics, Renderings, and Info)

The Mercedes-Benz X166 is the second generation GL-Class range of full-size luxury crossover SUV. The facelifted version was renamed to GLS. Production: June 2012 – April 2019. Model years: 2013–2019
Looks no different to the current GL.

Yawn............................

?
The current GL (in a different color) is directly spoken HOT!
Why change perfection?

In 10 years when they become cheap I'll buy one :D

Yep..looks just like the current model. I guess after the new M comes out we will probably have a general idea about the next GL.

A 2010 GL550 passed me the other day, stunning looking with the big wheels and the leds.

Size does matter. Sometimes, anyway. It definitely matters when you need to haul around six of your favorite people, and the Mercedes-Benz GL is one of the few ways to do it in style. That style is soon to get an update, as our spy photographers have snapped these images of the 2012 GL in testing today.

Based on the same underpinnings and drivetrain as the M-Class, the new GL is still largely shrouded in mystery. Power can be expected to get the Mercedes MOVE family of new direct-injection V-6s and twin-turbo V-8s, but specific power figures and model names will have to wait for the official release.

Do expect a vehicle with very similar proportions and lines to the existing GL, though the heavy camo along the front and sides obscure the more cosmetic changes. Behind the screen overlaid on the nose, we can see hints of a two- or three-bar grille, a reduction in count from the current GL's number--or at least set at wider spacing.

The headlights look slightly different in layout, and the tail lights look to be at least partially moved onto the rear lift gate. The exhaust and rear bumper on the vehicle spied don't look to be dressed in production trim, but it should still be a two-exit system with one tip on each side of the rear.

We'll bring you the latest details and spy shots as we get them, so stay tuned to see what Mercedes has in the works for its full-size luxury SUV.

I'm sure it will be great when it comes out. Not too worried about this one. Benz won too many awards with the GL to screw it up. The M-class on the other hand still has me concerned.

I get the distinct feeling that Mercedes has way too much going on right now, so much so that they can't devote the proper time and resources to each of these products to make sure they're the best they can be. I mean in the next year or so we're going to see a C-Class Coupe, CLS, SLK, ML, SL, GL, SLS Roadster, and probably some others I've missed. The SLK and SL in particular barely look any different than the current cars and are probably just deep updates on the current cars. Mercedes said that the W221 would be the last totally new Mercedes (outside of the SLS) and its starting to show. That said I'll wait and see what the finished products look like. The C-Class Coupe really needs to be something as does the C facelift. Mercedes is finally updating their engines and they look to be winners on paper and they can't come soon enough.

All the cars you mention are under testing, and they won´t look good, there´s no way they can. But I´ve asked the right guy what is going on with all the MBs you´ve mentioned, probably on Monday I will know good a fresh details, W222 S-Class included.
