CLK-Class (C209) Next generation CLK (spy pics, CGIs, info)

The Mercedes-Benz C209 is the second generation CLK-Class, launched in 2002. The car was available in both hardtop coupé (C209) and in soft-top convertible (A209). Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class. It was succeeded by the E-Class C207. Production: 2001–2009.
Nice find. So the headlight will be like the E's. Just like it was with the W210 and C208.

^^ Yeah, but it looks like they will be more angular extended flowing further up the hood than the W212.

The new CLK seems to be a very interesting car. I like very much the overall proportions and the front design. It is to early to judge about the rear though. Anyway, it seems to be closer to the new E-class while the current CLK seems to be closer to the C-class design-wise. This is a clever move because it will aloow to charge higher prices for essentially C-class mechanicals. If the performance and engines are upgraded to similar levels of the 3-series coupe, Mercedes will have a hit on their hand.

One thing that worries me though is the fact Mercedes seems to not understand the importance of offering a world-class product from the beggining. Instead, they try to offer a new chasis first, then upgrade the engines and then rough out the edges of the interior. In these days of short attention-span that does not work.

I do wonder how much this car will weigh seeing as though it seems much larger then the current model.

It has increased in size a bit, you can just see how the car completely swallows the driver inside. The AMG version won't be an M3 chaser at all, the weight penalty will be the main reason for a lackluster dynamics.

Since Mercedes just created the name CLC I suspect that the next generation CLC will be a proper C-class coupe of similar size to the 1er coupe. There is clearly space for a smaller coupe now when the CLK is leaning more and more towards luxury than sport.

This car sure is going to look aggressive, but I have to wonder, how will it drive??

I have no faith in this design. It has the same bean bag shape of the current CLK, but with the new C and CLC front and rear ends respectively, watch and see.

M

I hope Mercedes will offer a AMG pack as good designed as the new C-Class one, cause on this car it will be increbily good looking.

Guys, you guys should be adding tags to every thread.....the whole search cloud is pretty much a BMW thing now!!!

I'll add two tags!

It is going to need some 22" wheels to offset that bulky rear end.

It just looks bulky because the C pillar is disguised plus all the camo off course. The CL looked pretty much the same when it was going through testing.

Just a note to those who don't know. Leftlanenews have disabled hotlinking so alway rehost their images using imageshack.
