the F20 will be only slightly bigger than the outgoing E87 1-series. Two different design lines are said to be offered, Urban and Sport, each comprising of unique wheels, trims, and side mirror colors.

the integration of the rear wiper is better on the Golf IV, sadly.

Actually, because the wiper is seperate from the glass it is less expensive to repair unlike the Golf to which you will have to replace the electrics etc.

Anyway. a new 1er Sporthtach displaying the M-sport Packet was stopped at a checkpoint. Mainly because they want a closer inspection of the new car.

Like that matters! It looks ugly. It's insurance anyways when it breaks, so who cares what happens?

M pack mimics the 1M. Looks good from what I can see.

That close up shot of the front clearly shows the outline of the front head line units. The recent impression posted by Scott is a good indication of what's to come.

If the size and weight is about the same as current 1er, then Im definitely intrested. Hopefully a 200 hp 1er wont cost too much.

Reports say minimal increase in size; just a little bit bigger than current 1er.
And hopefully, like X3, it will be lighter than the current 1er too

One thing is for sure though, it will be a lot better looking

It's interesting, since I thought the 1er wouldn't get a 6 cylinder anymore...
But maybe it's the top end 4 cylinder turbo with 245 hp??

The F20 1er is lighter than the E87.

Thanks to Press-Hardened steel , use of composites and major components and key areas being fabricated with lighter metal materials.


There is a lot more going on in the front than you think.

This 1er is a classy lady it accepts its age through the evolutionary cycle gracefully.
The surface work around the headlights really highlights the face of the 1er adding a combined mix of both youthfullness and sportiness , the detail of the headlights is very intricate and was inspired by high quality camera lenses.

In the interior , there is still some decorative finish missing , especially around the flat screen monitor and upper dash area. But the finished article is very much of premium look and feel.

I'm liking how things are developing...

Except (there's always an exception or two) that I do wish the headlight units were a bit slimmer. They look a bit bulbous so far.

I also I hope that the hatch version does come over Stateside this time alongside the coupe. They could sell it as a niche vehicle and gauge if there would be demand for a premium hatch. If BMW could bring over the 5GT as a "niche" offering, I really don't see why they can't do that for the 1er hatch.

WOWWW, it´s definetly looking nice, REALLY nice. If only these last set of spy pics where from the 3 dr... I guess I´m sold guys, the new A3 has to look really really good to make me buy it over this tiny marvel.
