X1 Next BMW X1 to go front-drive

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman. Despite its name, it is now only the second smallest SUV produced by BMW since the introduction of the X2.
No nailing. They saw the car. It has been presented to A LOT of people in the last few months. We saw it also but had to protect the sources. Looks amazing!

Judging by the latest spy pics, it seems Autobild nailed it again with its render. I have to say I´m not liking it very much. It looks too 2er GT-ish to me.

The new X1 is a vehicle of many firsts for the X1 series.

First with FWD , First with eDrive Plug-In Hybrid, first with segment leading interior space, first with three cylinder petrol and Diesel engines and the first X1 L model which will offer seven seats.

JPATT we need you.

No but there will be an M Performance model with over 300PS.
Looking at the car you can picture how the X2 will turn out if you add the Sport Activity Coupe roofline.

very interesting update.. this m performance model will use xdrive like active tourer one or they will use an rwd biased awd system following the interview made in october by Dr Nitschke ?

Not to mention it is the first ever second-generation X1!

It looks higher than the current version and has hints of BMW 2-series AT in its styling. Otherwise not a huge change over current model, it looks a bit bland and boring for me  nothing exciting about the styling at all.

The real issue is the wheel size. Base models will look too big for their shoes/wheels, but I imagine a sports trim with at least 18" wheels will bring the proportions to life.

BMW is getting big for their boots! :p

It was looking very promising. Less so in these latest photos. I was hoping for a conventionally good looking vehicle, but it seems they've retained some of the current X1's quirkiness. Oh well the X3, X5 and X6 are all lookers.
