928 New Porsche GT Coupe - 928 Successor?

The photos are showing one of the test cars airborn at Nürburgring. It is the only car that is so fast in this spot on the ring that it gets all four tires off the ground, and when it accelerates it visibly burns rubber in a big dark cloud trailing behind.

We still don’t know for sure, but this prototype is hammering around the “Ring” with a speed that makes even Michael Schumacher jealous. It is actually one of the fastest cars around the Nürburgring, and the noise it makes is so evil, it makes the hair on your neck stand.

This all sounds very impressive, I'd love to know what Porsche are developing here!

Re: New Porsche GT coupe

It's not like I didn't know that Porsche had a GT coupe up their selves. Porsche has invested astronomical amounts of money into the Panamera and you can bet your ass that they will be using it's platform, factory and technology for more than one model. I didn't really expect that they would be testing the Coupe this early. They will likely price it in the 100k-250k region in order not to cannibalize Cayman and 911 sales. Hopefully it will be a 599-ish competitor. Porsche is missing a car in the upper 100k spectrum.

Re: New Porsche GT coupe

^god damn its hot.. is this what they reported a while back..
they called it the 988 or something..

Would kill off all GT´s

Re: New Porsche GT coupe

Is that Porsche answer to SLR and F599 GTB?

Re: New Porsche GT coupe

Wow, that old chop is pretty hot looking. I agree that Porsche is missing a car in that upper 100k range, and that coupe would be a pretty sweet cruiser.

I agree. Hope it's not just a fantasy though, such a car would be magnificent, especially for Porsche.

Pretty much. Their sub 100k line up is going to be pretty crowded when the Panamera arrives. The Cayman, 911 and Panamera will be in the same price range. It it only logical that the GT Coupe is priced well above 100k. I also think that there is a big market for a more expensive and exclusive Porsche.

:confused::confused::confused:

Panamera and Cayman in the same price range???

No way, no way that's going to happen! Forget it, Luw!

Neither of us can be 100% sure about that, but i cannot imagine their executive sedan (lol, can't believe i'm saying sedan for a Porsche) to be in the same price range with their "lowest" model... Call me crazy, but no, that won't happen, i'm 99,9% sure!

Oh I meant the Cayman S which is priced at 60k, not very far away from the base 911 which is priced at 70k. Remember that Porsche is planning on selling a lot of Panamera. The base model will most likely land somewhere between 70-80k. Maybe it will be cheap enough for you to upgrade from that 5er of yours. :D

LOL! I've completely forgot you're saying that in $, not €, right? Anyhow, the price difference in Croatia and USA is huge, as it always was...:eusa_doh: You guys get way better price than we here...:t-banghea

Still, you've said Cayman S, but i don't think it'll make any difference; i appreciate Porsche wants to sell them a lot, but take it like this: the Z4 3.0si costs here cca 55,000 €, while BMW 530i costs 68,000 €.:t-crazy2:

Anyhow, as you say Cayman S for 60k and Panamera (base model) between 70-80k, i don't think that's in the same price range and i'm scared to think about possible Panamera price in Croatia...

Oh, and that upgrade won't happen, at least not in next few years. Decided to cruise in next years a little bit higher of the ground, on 20/21" 275 cans...:D

I thought the Panamera's gonna be a competitor in the Rapide and Quattroporte price bracket. If it's gonna be that cheap I'll JUMP on it! :D

Not if they want to sell it in large numbers as Luw said...;) But it would make more sense (imo) if it's going to be in Rapide's price range...

No, It's not going to be that expensive. Porsche has invested huge amounts of money in whole project and platform and intend to get return on investment. Along with the Cayenne it will become on of their bread and butter. There is a chance though that the top of the ragne stretches into Quattroporte and Rapid prices.

Re: New Porsche GT coupe

Luw, sorry for being lazy to check, maybe i've read it but forgot... They've built or they will build a complete new platform for Panamera? Not sharing some platform from VAG?

Before the Panamera got green light, there were rumors going around that the Panamera and the up coming Passat och Phaeton was going to share platform, but Porsche decided to go their own way. The Panamera platform will be used by no other manufacturer but Porsche.
