Initial reports and pics are appearing detailing the all new Peugeot 207.

Here's hoping that at least that a new 207 GTi might make up the ground lost to the invincible little Clio Sport 182 and restore Peugeot's erstwhile reputation of producing sensational and iconic hot hatches in the 205 GTi and 306 GTI-6 moulds...

Notice too how very similar this car looks to the new Clio...

The one thing about this car is just how ordinary it looks. When the 206 came out it had a look that was something different. This one indeed looks a lot like the Clio with a rear so bland it could be Korean. Nevertheless, if the price is right it will sell millions.

Hmm, the interior has been improved a lot, that's for , but the rest i don't like. It's the car for my wife after all...But hell, even my wife drives something waaaaay better and nicer than this one - The VW Golf V 2.0TDi Sportline. :D

:t-cheers:

Notice how terribly undersized the wheels look when the car is viewed in profile, an occurence not helped by some very strangely shaped wheel arch creases. That aside, a rather unattractive and conservative attempt from Peugeot. Even a Polo still looks fresh when viewed against this newcomer in my opinion.

No, I must say Peugeot's new design direction is not impressing me.. the 407's terribly elongated front w/ gaping mouth ruining an otherwise attractive saloon, and, well, the 307 facelift was simply hideous in my opinion. As others have mentioned - this too looks nothing special, quite bland and by all accounts disappointing, though I guess not unpredictible given the updated 307 and 407. Peugeot had it going on in the late 80s and 90s; cars like the roaring 205 gti, highly successful 306 and to a lesser extent the 206 - seems to me they've lost their game a little in moving away from their earlier approach...

Not busting my guts in anticipation for the GTi, to say the least...

Guys, am i wrong or this car actually has leds in the rear lights? :eusa_thin

It's just the shape of the crystal. If Peugeot used LEDs they would all burn in a month or so lol. :D

Some new pictures:

I think it looks good, especially the red one above. Probably an expensive version of the new Peugeot 207.
Anyway, with larger and proper rims and bumperstrips in bodywork color, it's a good looking car. :)

good improvments.. but i dont see this look being so popular as the old one

OT: Tycoon, cool, didn't know you guys have a Golf Sportline TDI. Manual or DSG? They don't come here standard, but I'm thinking it would be a bit less of a attention-gatherer than a Golf GTI, and I like the idea of the DSG (manual is out of the question, girlfriend can't drive manual, it could become a 'family car' sooner or later.. ;) ). Shamefully, the 2.0FSI Sportline with conventional 6-speed auto gets worse official fuel economy figures than the GTI with DSG (8.5 vs. 8.0).

Anyhow, I don't really like this 207. It looks somewhat like the 206, which IMO isn't a bad thing - you don't want to alienate all your old customers by making their cars date too much. However, that grille is horrible - that red car looks like it's got a grinning mouth full of braces. The 'up spec' bumper also looks worse than the low spec one, IMO, due to the lack/presence of the corner rubbing strip, as well as the placement and detailing of the foglights, and not to mention the braces.

Those wheel arches are confusing me, in some pictures they're ok, but on some they look very odd. Overall, the shape is ok, but nothing spectacular. I prefer the detailing of the new Clio more. Still, although they do look similar, the Clio comes from Renault.. which is unrelated.. and the 207 shares the C3's platform.

As for interior, I like the subdued style more. It suits me better than Citroen's C4's pseudo futuristic pastiche. Hopefully they can get the ergonomics and build quality right as well.

Then again, I'm not going to complain too much. I'm not in the market for this car anyway - I have a certain distrust of French cars. I've heard one too many stories to bother, and especially not when there are enough good alternatives. The interiors have a little more flair/smart design touches than Korean or some Japanese, and sometimes they're competitive on paper and sometimes even in price, but I couldn't really bring myself to actually buy one.

I bet the GTI is going to be a fun car to drive, just like previous generations.

this car seems to be good. better than the Clio. Well, IMO, if you are looking for a small car, the best choise would be a french car. Ok i'm not out of my mind... french cars, like clio and 206-207 have a good enough built and material quality and they are very comfortable, especially for in the city use (you can't imagine how comfortable my clio is, due to her suspension). they also have a smaller price. That's why i would choose a small french car over any other european at any time.

PS. forget the C3. It is terrible in terms of built and material quality.

OT: Snake, thanks, mate! It's 6spd manual. It was only Golf 2.0TDi Sportline for prompt delivery. For the one with DSG i'd have to wait 3-4 months. It's fully equipped only without xenons, it even has the ESP. More than enough for my wife, huh? I'll post some pics of the car in next days when the weather gets better here. :t-banghea

French cars have very bad quality and reliability. Where i work we have two Citroen Xsara and they are falling apart from the first day we got them. Also above 80 km/h the car rides like a boat and it leaves you no confidence to increase the speed more.
So the French can keep their low quality products for themselves as far as i am concerned.

I don't think Citroen has good quality prodacts. But Renault and even Peugeot have. Note: Good, not excelent! Anyway, since i use the Clio only in the city, i don't reach more than 40-50km/h, so i don't have any problems with it. As far as it does its "job" good, i don't care about it.
The opposit goes for the volvo. I rarely drive below 80 and i check the car every day, and every satursday i wash it myself...

Peugeot

Peugeot is a French brand of automobiles owned by Stellantis. Founded in 1810, Peugeot is regarded as the oldest car company in the world. On 20 November 1858, Émile Peugeot applied for the lion trademark. Armand Peugeot (1849-1915) built the company's first car steam tricycle. They joined forces with Léon Serpollet in 1886; this was followed in 1890 by an internal combustion car with a Panhard-Daimler engine.
