Vectra New Opel/ Vauxhall Vectra spy-photos.

The Opel Vectra is a mid-size car (large family car) that was engineered and produced by Opel from 1988 until 2010. Available in saloon, hatchback and estate (from model year 1997 onwards) body styles, the Vectra was also sold by the Vauxhall marque in the United Kingdom as the Vauxhall Cavalier from 1988 to 1995 and then as the Vauxhall Vectra from 1995 to 2008, and it was also sold by Holden in Australia as the Holden Vectra, by Chevrolet in Latin America as the Chevrolet Vectra.

It looks like a mix of Mercedes CLS with BMW 6-Series and a pinch of Volkswagen Passat.

More new Opel/Vauxhall Vectra (Saturn Aura) spy-photos from the www.leftlane news

Spy photographers have spotted one of the first Saturn Aura/Opel Vectra prototypes. The vehicle spotted, actually a right-hand-drive Vauxhall version, gives us a good glimpse of what's to come for Saturn's largest sedan.

The prototype appears to draw lightly from Opel's GTC concept, but it's definitely evolutionary, rather than revolutionary. Obviously the head and tail lamps are fake on this prototype, but we can imagine what will be in their place without too much difficulty. We're not really sure why the General Motors engineers are driving around with some sort of Volkswagen logo inside. Maybe it's a poor attempt to confuse spy photographers.

The upcoming Aura/Vectra is based on GM's fresh Epsilon 2 platform. We're expecting similar powertrains to the current model - a couple of V6s and a hybrid - as well as front wheel drive. All wheel drive is a rumored possibility. A new rumor suggests that Saturn might abandon the unique Aura name in favor of the global Vectra badge that is very well known in Europe and elsewhere, but the U.K.'s Vauxhall version will likely be renamed Insignia when it goes on sale, so anything is possible.

While the center stack isn't close to production form, it appears as though the rest of the dash is. The gauge cluster is highlighted by four chrome-ringed dials — two large and two small — with clean looking faces. Chrome also accents the center-mounted gear shifter, giving the interior an up-scale feel. The Vectra will be released in late '08 as an '09 model in Europe, with U.S. sales of an Aura or Vectra likely following a year later.

I like it what I see on the outside...not sure about inside, though.

Looks very promising!

Away better than this spaceship-Mondeo and the new odd looking Laguna!

Take the Passat, then, my friend... The Passat...

Seriously, the outside seems good. The inside, not really interesting... Ok, but not new or design... The quality does not seem top-notch, plastics seem gray... But let's wait then real deal.

What is the double space between the center heaters? Does not look like a GPS screen...

I cannot say anything about the interior. It looks even less than half-finished so i can't say any final judgement. About that, we wait an see.

As for that screen, i think of the same, too. It must be a screen for the trip computer for the lower end models and it will host the satnav screen for the upper editions. I think that this is the case..

:t-cheers:

Why do you say the interior is not finished? Won't it be like that??:D

I've just seen, Opel seems to like the Hoffmeister Kink a lot... The last Astra has it too... ;)

Hm ...

Noticed it before ...

BMW E60 5er sedan styled boot lid. :eusa_thin The "Bangle-butt". :D

Heavily criticized on E60 5er. Will press be more kind to the new Opel Vectra? :t-hands:

Btw, I like it. Much more dynamic styling then the competitors. Like all the current Opels. :usa7uh:

Yet I agree: the H's kink is a bit too much. Opel - the new poor people's BMW?

Now that I think to that... The Passat also has the Hof-Kink!!! The two have the same kink and rear door than an e60 5-Series!

Pure Coïncidence, of course.

Every resemblace with existing vehicule or situation is fully unwanted and unvoluntary... :D (sorry, don't know exactly how they say that in the films in english)

Did you notice, there is a line in the front door that continues the lines coming from the rear door, so that the angle of the end of the rear door is continued in the front door!!

You can see it more clearly in the cars with the black camo only.

Don't know if you see what I mean...

The problem is such a kink hardly looks OK on FWD platform proportions. :eusa_thin

RWD proportions are a completely different story. Hint: BMW, and (surprise?) ... Infiniti.

It seems like the interior of the new Vecta, will look pretty much like that of the GTC Concept.:eusa_thin What do you guys think?

Wow you're right, it looks 100% like that concept!!!

Lacks the kind of iDrive though. Buttons and warning a bit different too. But remarkably near the concept!

New Vectra OPC being tested on the Nuburgring.

Opel’s Blitz

We expect the new Opel Vectra to make its global debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor show and to go on sale in the second half of 2008. The high powered OPC-variant spied here while undergoing high-speed tests at the German Nürburgring, will not make it to dealers before summer 2009.

The Vectra OPC will have a modified front skirt with slightly bigger air-intakes plus wider sills and fenders, bigger wheels and a massive rear spoiler on the top of the boot lid. Power is expected to come from a new, turbocharged V6 delivering just over 300 bhp.
